I broken piece and i dont know what it is?

i have this item and i dont know what it it or what it connects to. I bought a Chilton book and it was inacurate for my year model. I returned it and bought a Haynes and i still dont know what it is. Help if you can. the top item does vacuum to the back of the intake manifold. but the worn metal part looks like it might be a ground or pull type line. But i'm not sure.

Looks like a cruise control setup.

Top is cruise control housing and if bottom cable goes into the top pictured item it's the cruise control throttle cable.

Ok, the end piece is still connected to the cruise control housing but where does the ring get placed, i figure somewhere on my throttle body. Plus i'll look it up, but of course experience and wisdom gets my ear faster than anything else. Thanks for all your help.

That cable is frayed, you don't want to use it. It could cause the throttle to get stuck open.

I would look into getting a different assembly.
