I drove my car home from school today and when i was letting it cool down i came out and my hood was smoking hard core with white smoke. It wasn't comming from the belt side so i know it isn't the water pump. When it was happening there was a loud hissing sound(guessing that was the coolant evaporating) i looked and don't quit know where to start with trouble shooting it and finding the leak. my reservoir is also completely empty. What could this be... i need help LOL

Radiator, radiator to thermostat hose, radiator to water pipe hose, or hoses to heater core. It has to be one of those items.

if i put water in my radiator and turn on my car, can i see wher the leak is comming from?, or is there a way to drain my coolant completely and run air through that system and listen for leaks?

It will bee easier to see coolant than to hear the air leaking. I had a pin hole size leak in my radiator steam was escaping through. You never would have heard the leak.
