I have a 98 gs spyder and was wondering how much to drop her. My rim set up will most likely be 17 or 18" 235/40/17 or 235/40/18 I want a nice look and a nice.

dropped a hair over 2 inches, using a GC (fwd springs, front and rear) and tokico illuminas. even on the stiffest settings, the car rides very nice..

wheels are 18x7.5 w/ 225-40-18 rubber..

Currently there's not a Sportline Kit for the Spyders, although I have seen it done, and it looks slammed on stock wheels. You'll def have to roll your fenders in the back and get a camber kit.

I'm in the exact same spot as you, I want to drop my white GS Spyder. Remember, you'll get a little more drop out of spring sets because of the added weight of the convertible.

After doing alot of research on this, my sugestion is to get the tokico shock/spring package. I just ordered it yesterday (360 shipped). I've heard lots of good things, search the fourms, you'll see. Take a look at "Cucumber". He's running that kit on his spyder. Looks great, a perfect set up for the street. If you drop your car 2" or more, you'll have problems getting up driveways and speed bumps in a timly fashion. :dsm:

I just drove from Toronto to Quebec then down to Boston in my 92 Talon with sportlines and I have to tell you I think I need back surgery. The car hops on every bump and drives me nuts. I don't want to repeat this mistake but at the same time I don't want those huge fender gaps FASTFWD please tell me doe's your car bounce like crazy when you hit bumps?:thumb:

no, the car doesn't bounce that bad (ie, all crazy), even on continuous rough/choppy roads.. just a note, the tokicos are set on 5, the stiffest setting..

as for awd vs. fwd springs, RRE recommends fwd springs for our spyders.. and that's what i went with.. hope this helps..

I just installed my Tokico Shocks and Springs and I couldn't be happier, at first I thought the drop wasn't gonna be significant, but after I finished it looked great! If you want an affordable street set up, where you can get up a driveway and still take 90 degree corners at 45mph, buy this kit from tokico. 360 shipped on Ebay.
