currently my exhaust I loud just like everyones elses. I'm just curious on how many reducers ends up being too much. Is there a a performance loss when you add a reducer? If not could I add literally 3 on and be quiet.

Thanks,
Ian

Explain more....What kind of exhaust do you have? Catback or Turbo Back. What size is it? Are you getting in trouble from the cops? etc...
I live in Chicago and have 3" tbe with no muffler and I don't get bothered. Even when I'm running my turndown, the cops don't seem to care much.

I have a Tanabe Catback thats 2.5". Cops trouble me, Highway noise from exhaust is SO deep. I just want a quiter exhaust

Its not going to be too bad... Just add the resonator

I haven't driven without one but I bet it would be nice to have it.

By reducer, I'll assume you mean a resonator? If so there are a couple different styles of resonators. The ones that come in "pre-packaged" exhaust systems such as the Apexi N1 will be very restrictive as they neck down to around 2" internally. Then they have louvered style, they will dampen the sound abit less but will increase performance abit vs the first style. Then there's one's with perforated cores, these are basically straight through & the decrease in performance will be very minimal (ie not felt), but these will do the least to reduce exhaust noise. You can get one's with larger cannisters, which will help reduce noise.

The muffler itself will play a big role in both sound reduction & the attention it attracts. Most of the time cops don't care about how loud your car is, they just care how your muffler looks. I use to run an Apexi N1 system with the typical big can. It was extremely quiet (quiter then a stock Ford Explorer when dB tested) but I was given multiple tickets for it & pulled over many time more, that I talked my way out of. I since switched to a stock looking exhaust which is much, much louder. Have ran it for two summers & have not been hassled once.

the one i ment to talk about was the latter one he mentioned.. i have 3"turbo back and its like a 4" hollow resinator on mine. any change is pipe diameter will affect sound waves

its just that my exhaust has a very deep loud sound when at highway speeds. I could care less about cops. LOL ya and i meant a resonator LOL
