Newb question sorry, I did try to search this site and others but could not get the right answers sohere I'm, my bovine does not actuated at any level of boost i turned it up to 13 Psi and still nothing but i can hear the turkey through my air filter. My vacations at idle is a steady -17 and while driving and releasing the gas it goes to -20 so I'm pretty sure i have enough vac to actuate the valve, i have it plugged into the middle 3/8 nipple on the intake and i have completely dissassembled the bov, the valve moves freely and the diaphram looks fine. The pic is where the hose connects too is this correct or should i be connecting it elsewhere for better vac?
Thanks in advance for the help

I just seem to think I should be getting some type of blow off sound I mean i had more audible sound with my stock 1G bov recirculated so whats the $300 pricetag on this POS for? plus all the time and money to actually mounting it.

put a vacuum on the ssqv valve and check to see if it opens and if the diaphragm is leaking.

like a household vacuum? I did suck air through the tube and it seamed to hold pressure just fine for about a minute and i visually inspected the diaphragm. maybe I just need a lighter spring?

I will try to do a drive by vid today to show the flutter

Would you please enlighten me as to why it is a bad bad idea? I would like a better understanding of the difference of sourcing pre TB vs. post TB. Thanks. Sorry for the misinformation. :thumb: :thumb:

A bov has a diaphragm inside. There are 2 sides to the diaphragm. One side is connected to the charge pipe. The other side is connected to the nipple.

The purpose of the bov is to release air when the throttle body closes. So one side of the diaphragm is on the charge pipe, and the other side is connected to the intake manifold. When you are WOT and in boost there is pressure in the charge pipe and in the intake manifold. This puts equal pressure on both sides of the diaphragm. When you close the throttle body, there is still pressure in the pipe but vacuum in the intake manifold. So one side of the diaphragm has pressure and the other side has vacuum. The diaphragm opens releasing the pressure in the charge pipe. When the pressure equalizes, the bov closes.

If we connect it your way, Both sides have the same pressure and the bov will never open.

The wastegate is the opposite. It needs constant pressure. If connected to the intake manifold the wastegate will still work but itll get a mixture of pressure and vacuum which messes with it.

Still a noisy flutter. You will just have to check vac pressure off the intake mani. Like posted before, put a different vac source on it to test the bov itself (vac tester of some sort).

I have the exact same bov and its hooked up same as yours. I have no issue with mine. Anything over 5psi and it pops nicely

Ok thanks ill pop by auto value today yo see if i can use or buy a small vacuume and test the bov out, this one is just over a month old and of course i don't have the papers for it so if its bad anyone have a suggestion on a good bov with the same mount?

I got mine off kijiji. Me and my buddy spotted an add for 2 of these HKS SSQ sold for a twin turbo setup $200 for both. Take a look there an see what kind of deals they have. Only place I can recommend for you unless you were here in calgary. I'd have a few places to send ya

Also. Where did you get your bov?

The bov was bought by the previous owner just before i purchased the car

The car is actually from Calgary

I'm just curious now if you have a knock off bov. Came with a purple insert correct? If so. It could be defective.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but don't true HKS bov come shipped with a red insert?
