Hi guys/girls I've recently finished my first rebuild and I've got a question I can never seem to find an answer to: Can I use my HKS (264/272) cams with the factory cam gears/factory ECU? Like I've said I've looked everywhere and I can never find an answer. I should let it be known that I do intend to get adjustable HKS gears eventually when I get more money but that's going to be a fair while yet and I wanted to be able to use my new cams, so any help you can lend would be greatly appreciated. :D :laser:

Hi Slo TSI thanks that's the answer I needed to hear. Yes I fully intend on getting an SAFC in order to take advantage of them. I just spent a small fortune on high quality parts because I wanted to be able to play with my car but at the same time have it be nice and reliable. I still have a lot to learn about tuning, but everything in due time. Thanks for the response :thumb:

No problem Slo TSI. Actually I've already broken in my engine. I did that before I drove it down to Florida here and it's still running great. I'm having a few hiccups from a few other things, like my freshly rebuilt alternator's voltage regulator isn't working 100% as all my dash lights, head lights, and tail lights, tend to kind of repeatedly dim and get brighter. I figure if it hasn't gone out yet I should be OK to drive home to Canada (2000 miles). If you or anyone else thinks that I'm ill advised to drive please let me know as I'm due to leave on Tuesday. Thanks!

Pardon the double post, but I have verified that my alternator is putting out good power, is charging my battery and seems to be working fine other than the voltage regulator thing. Maybe it's just a lousy connection? I should let it be known that I'm a newbie when it comes to auto mechanics (I had someone help me with my rebuild) so I don't know all of the signs when it comes to these things. Any advice would be appreciated.
