ok i just installed 550's and an safc2 latley (this past week) and today when i started my car it's idle rose up to about 2k-2.5K and held there for a couple minutes, then i tap the gas and it fell back down to 2.5K then it like "snapped" or "died" for just long enof to fall to 1.5k and start pulsating from 1.5K-1.7k, and i did that for my whole 20 minute drive, when i statred my car up after the drive it had a 2K idle and started its pulsating again and then went away after about 5min of driving. anybody have this happen to them? what should i check?

MODS:
3-inch cat back
255 lph
550's
safc2
evo iii cams

Did you use new insulators with the Injectors? If not get new ones as they tend to harden, crack and not seal (i.e. boost leak).

Also double check you didn't knock any vacume lines off the TB Block or around the area of the intake. If you removed any other IC piping..etc check them too.

Hell just pressure test the intake and should test all the above is ok :thumb:

And if that doesnt work, it may be your FIAV (fast idle air valve). It allows your car to idle high on cold startup until it gets warm, then idle normal. If the idle surge goes away, this may be the problem.

If you have any more problems, you can PM me b/c I have been through it.

I have the exact same problem. What I have been told is that its your idler motor going bad. might be something to check out

Although the ICS could cause the above.. since the problem occured immediately following the aformentioned upgrades.. likely not the direct cause.

Also in my experineces (3 failed ICSs).. they generally cause low idle / stalling.. vacume/boost leaks (and incorrect base ign timing / BISS setting) causes elevated idle.

i have noticed on my logger that it says my timing at idle is 10 but when i use a timming gun it says 5??? also how exaclty do u check for cav. leaks? and what are the rubber insulators called so i can get some new ones.

Timing at the ECU is <> base Ignition timing. It's actually 10(ECU Timing Map) + 5(base) = 15BTDC.

There is a nice Intake VFAQ which shows you how to test for leaks.

The Insulators are called Injector Insulators. Should be able to get them at any local AutoParts store or vendor on this site.
