So I needed to replace my fuel tank on my 98 GST because of rust. When I purchased a spare 97 GST fuel tank I thought it was the same. After pulling my tank, it has the charcoal canister in the original tank but the 97 GST tank I purchased doesn't. I can't find the tank I need anywhere, nobody has any idea what I'm talking about. What eclipses specifically have the canister in the tank? Do all 98 GST's have it? 99? Would a GS have it? My GST is sitting at a family members house where I can't stay for much longer! I need to find a tank asap or I have no idea what I'll do with the car.

Quick question, is there just vapor going through the canister hoses? I received some used hoses along with the used tank I ordered. The hose that runs back to the engine was cut short and one of the other ones has a split right at the end of the hose, it shouldn't leak.

Would it be fine to run the car like this? I'm worried about the hose that leads to the engine not being connected. Will vapor just come out to the atmosphere and all be fine? Or does any fuel come out?
There's just gasoline vapor going through the canister hoses.

Cap off any hoses that you won't be connecting and whatever the hose was supposed to connect to so you don't get gas fumes in your garage [the hose that leads to the engine goes to a couple of check valves under the battery which you can cap off]. The engine should run ok although you might get an evap cel (eg. P0442) every 100 miles when it checks the system for vapor leaks and finds it doesn't react as expected.

Great thanks! I connected the one that I think will be ok even though it's slit a bit. The one that was too short I added a hose splice and added some vapor hose I got from the parts store. It fit and I clamped it all down. It should be OK then since you said it's just vapor. If it was fuel then that's where I would have an issue.

Car won't start now after it starting fine last month... I'm going to fix the ground tomorrow because that's what I think it is. It's acting like the battery is bad (clicks but no crank) but I tried jump starting and I tried my GS battery and no success.

I'm not sure which line youre talking about however i can confirm that one of the lines are for vapors only. I have this line open to atmosphere on my car and i believe this line was connected to the canister.
I see you have a 97, our fuel tanks are different. Especially since you have AWD. If the 97 AWD tank is anything like the 97 GST tank then there is one hose that leads to the canister and that's the one you're likely talking about. My canister is inside the tank and has 3 hoses coming from the tank instead of one. I was (and still am a litte) confused as to what actually went through these hoses and where it went. It seems like 2 are vents, and one leads to the engine. Not sure still though. But it's nice to know that only vapor goes through the hoses.
