help with exhaust manifold

so i got around to putting in my manifold .but the question is do i need the heat shield that was around the old one

it got so hot it turned red and i dont want it to melt the fan shroud

Its recommended but not necessary. If you can't get it back on you can use some heat tape.

theres not holes on it for the heat shield to screw back on

but is it normal for it to get so hot that it actual turns red

Just put some Thermo wrap. Becareful not to burn yourself. Is this manifold after market? Since you say there's no holes for the heat shield.

ya i bought it off some guy on craigslist for 50 it looks nice stainless steal im not sure on the brand thow

i had cracks all threw out my old one so it was 40 at the junkyard or something diffrent

it does'nt have the threads in on it for the screws to hold the heat shield down

it just something untill i can come up with enuff money for a dc header or something

You don't need the head shield so don't worry about it. Later down the road, if you have the money, just use some heat wrap and call it a day.

If you use the Thermo wrap, make sure you soak it first. Soaking it before installation will make the tape easier to manipulate around the manifold and will reduce the amount of fibers that come off.

so the heat should melt anything plastic i know its a dumb question but ay i have to ask

Once you put the wrap no. The shield was there for a reason. Yes it's possible that if it got hot enough, it could melt plastic around it.

Also avoid buying "cheap parts". You want your car to run good, invest the money.

If you're stressing over a heat shield then you have bigger problems at hand.
You don't need the heat shield or heat wrap. You're N/A. Turbos recommend it because there is much more heat generated

you dont necesarily need a dc header yea its one of the best but i have a megan racing header and it works perfectly fine for me
