ok so i was just driving around, learning how to shift better(getting pretty good) when i go to this stop sign. I put my foot on the clutch and leave it in first gear. I then put my foot on the accelerator. I let the clutch up too fast adn the car launches very very fast.(i didn't think it was capable of such things). IT launches so fast that it hits the 7000rpm line and i believe it shuts off. I then start it and it goes a little but won't boost and barely goes past like 3000 rpm. Did i mess something up?(btw i have a 91 talon tsi). What did i do or is my car fine? Please someone help. The suspense is killing me.:(

I say you developed a simple boost leak. There is metered air that is probably being lost and not allowing the car to boost, and making the car run like crap. I popped one of my intercooler pipes off at the track...the car just shut off wouldnt turn back on....i slipped it on and limped it back to tech..the car was studdering and wouldnt go above 3000rpm since the pipe was just slipped on and not tight. Check the simple stuff first. Going straight to "it jumped timing" is a bit harsh.

ok it sounds more like that. I just went outside(before not again) and it revved and then just turned off....i think its a boost leak as well but how do i check for that. And thanks to both of you for help. I hope i get it fixed and wow that was some launch. Anyway how do i check for boost leak LOL? This is my first car(first manual driven as well) so im not very mechanically inclined.

If it shuts down completely, then it should be a pretty big hole... I had my upper IC pipe blown off while doing burnout, and yea, car started to behave quite similarly to yours. Ask someone to look at the engine while you rev.

check all your intercooler pipes. who knows maybe the engine mounts are so worn when you blasted it the engine shifted and pulled a pipe loose. do a visual inspection. if somethings loose take note.

Ok i found out what it is !! The big ass red pipe on my engine brokeded LOL. I was revving it up and my mom was like why is that pipe jumping up and down LOL.I hope thats the only thing because i miss driving it already.

ROFL ROFL ROFL

I hate it when my "big ass red pipe" brodededs. Where is this pipe? Did you just have to put it back together and it was fixed or what?

LOL, glad you found your problem

yea i got boostedinaz to come buy and fix it.. He fixed then and then it brokeded again. Its the intercooler pipe i think. Its this one dumb piece where its a tube that goes in another tube that goes on the intercooler part that keepings f*in up. ill take pictures in the morning.

im 18 LOL, and i was just playing about the brokeded LOL...and my mom just happen to be outside and don't get me started on girlfriends....

Make sure its TIGHT!! and use proper spelling and grammer or a moderator will hve a problem with you!:dsm:

i never knew joking around with brokeded was such a serious offence. Im sorry fellow dsm'ers for my humor(or lack of) with the mispelling of the word broked. And is there any site that sells reducers maybe so that the peice will fit on better because i think it would be better to have one solid part then two peices.

Just for the record... I didnt have a problem I just didnt want a moderator to have to say anything to you so I did first.. were a fun bunch but spelling and grammar are kind of a big deal to an extent...

That pipe needs to be in two pieces thats just how they work... if you tighten the hose clamps down good it shouldnt be a problem just check it once in a while:dsm:

ok thanks and i didn't mean to come off as sarcastic or anything like that. And i believe its the dejon upper i/c pipe. That sucks, o well im going to have it tighten up anyways.

If it keeps on blowing, consider getting a v-band style clamp, or doubling up on worm gears. Also, the piece that it's blowing off of should have a lip, make sure the clamp is around the piece behind the lip. If it doesn't have a lip, take a picture of the spot and (depending on the pipe material) I might be able to tell you a sneaky way to make a psuedo-lip that always works for me.

My mom's diagnosis is always "why don't you sell all your cars and buy one that runs." She might be right... I dunno, I'm getting good exercise on my bicycle : (
