help identifying a part

I just need to kno what part is just above the yellow dot. I just replaced the front springs on my gfs eclipse and noticed this rubber flex peice was ripped and was extremely messy. Now the car makes a noise while driving and is getting worse. It was exremely low before, so im sure that had everything to do with it.

Ive researched everywhere and just got frustrated, go figure.

that is the cv shaft boot . and the mess is the grease that flew out of the axle..

Yellow- CV shaft boot

Blue Arrow- Sway bar end link

Lower Green Circle- Sway bar end link nut

Upper Green Circle- Bolt that compresses the fork to your strut.

and is it inner or outer? looking at parts now and seeing theres two different ones

What are you looking to change out? Sway bar end links are a PITA. More than likely you will need to cut the stud that goes through the fork and sway bar to get them out. They are usually rusted very bad and strip out when you try to loosen them. Out of the 10 or so I've removed I've gotten 2 out that were usable. They are only like $15 at autozone though.

That is the outer boot, they aren't too bad to replace. You don't need to remove any of the bolts/nuts you have circled though.

yeah it is pretty easy to get out. ..

just pick up a whole new axle there not that expensive and there pretty easy to replace.

You can get a boot new with everything you need for $20 vs. a new axle for $125 or a used one with old boots for who knows how much. It is much easier and cost effective just to replace the boot.

do i need to take out the whole drivers side axle if im just replacing the outer boot?

Yes you will. You won't be able to get the boot on without doing so.
