I was looking to buy someones DSM yesterday and when he pulled the throttle cable the engine moved up and when he let off the throttle cable it came back down, even though it was not in gear. Is this normal?

Some play is normal but I would check motor mounts

how much was it moving? My first eclipse moved quite a bit when i first bought it. can you guess why i have a second eclipse? That was a 420A thought. which engine is in the DSM your looking at? The engine in the eclipse i have now (420A) still moves but nowhere near as much as my first car. Unfortunately i never found out what happened to my first car as i just trashed it because it was junk anyways. So no its not normal and i could be a number of things. Anything from a bad motor mount to bad timing. I would have it looked over by a mechanic. If that isnt possible then move on to another DSM.

He has a rebuilt 1g 6 bolt. I'm not sure what to compare it to by how much it moved because I've never seen that happen before with a motor. I'm bringing it by my mechanic on Monday, I just wanted to see if anyone had any ideas of what it could be.
