So basically, here's my issue. I have a very good body, decent running GST.
However, I have one big downfall, I'm fairly sure the rings are gone. After extended idle, it smokes, and I mean smokes. The oil pressure and everything holds and the starts aren't hard. Just very smokey, oil smoke. (smokes white however)
I've been delving and diving and I have been thinking. I want to make 450ish on this car, but do I want to do it on this block? I'm far from it's first 2 owners (I'm sure I'm number 6+) and that the cars really had...it rough. Motor wise, to put it simple.
I could rebuild the 7 bolt totally, but would I save out by buying a DSMGraveyard 6 bolt, and just use it after checking the motor over? (and of course machining the head for the 6 bolt studs and so forth, plus headgasket and all serious components oil pump, waterpump, timing, so on)
This isn't technically a 7 or 6 thread but rather a, which would be more monetarily efficient. I want to have a good strong platform and I generally hear good things about the complete 6 bolt blocks from DSMG.
Any input or advice guys? I'd love too get some clarity so I can stop second guessing myself.
