Hey guys,

I know part of this might be my fault but its been about 6 thousand miles since a oil change was gonna change it tomorrow. I noticed my oil light came on for a second. I get to work check my oil and not a damn drop of oil in the damn thing. I know i shouldnt have waited this long to do a oil change, but it shouldnt have burned all the damn oil should it?! There has to be another problem. My engine has a kind of chuge to it ive been looking for this damn problem for a year now. I have a intake, header, and 2.25 cat back. Do you guys think i have a vaccum leak or exhaust leak or blown head gasket? My car idles at like 500 rpms also. ANY INPUT WOULD BE GREAT! thanks. Im gonna trade this damn car in if i dont get it running right.

Try to check the compression of each cyl. With those numbers we can come up with a better conclusion! Is there any leak anywhere arround the engine? Is there any unusual smoke (color) on the exhaust? How many mileage on the engine?
But might be a blow head gasket!, or a cyl. ring.

And next time check the oil more often!

later,

How do i check the Compression? I havent noticed any leaks or smoke anywhere. I just know the engine chugs for like a year. It now has 86k on it.

Go to you auto parts store and buy one that screws into the spark plug hole im not sure how expensive they are cuz my dad bought ours. BTW dont tighten it down to much of its a B***H to get out LOL dont ask :laser:

my 91 laser rs n/t i just checked the compression yesterday and the results r as follows
cylinder 1- 75 psi
cylinder 2- 100 psi
cylinder 3- 100 psi
cylinder 4- 145 psi

can anyone give me some info on what this could be. Personally i am thinking bent valves. any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Brandon

I just found a major exhaust leak coming from where my header is connected to the next pipe. I think the gasket between them is bad. Could this leak be the cause of the chug? Or would there be more?

I just added oil and i figure i put in about 2 quarts. That is 1 burned quart ever 3000 miles. That is about the norm for the broke pos 420 crappy cryslar piece of dung engine isnt it?

I took my car to the shop today and changed my oil and fixed my exhaust. They also told me i have a misfire in Cylindar 1. I have already changed my sparkplugs, plugwires, ignition coil, valve cover gaskets. I still have the misfire. They told me to put cleaner in for my throttlebody and feul injectors. I dont have any smoke or anything coming out of my exhaust. While my car was on the lift i did notice i had a oil leak but i couldnt tell where it came from. Also my car has a tick. when i rev the engine the tick gets faster. They guy said my feul injectors are all pulsing and sound like they are firing but they could be clogged on cylindar 1. He told me to do a compression test also as you guys said, but he thinks my compression is fine. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Cel and he ran it on the tell tell gauge (computer guage) and it said i have a misfire in cylinder 1. Every now and then my car will bogg a little and my car idles low 500rpms, but its been running the same way for the past year or so. What you guys think?

What are you talking about? He had a computer that plugged into your engine? Your computer doesn't know how to tell if there's a misfire in any particular cylinder.

He plugged some computer gauge into my car under the dash. He said it told him there was a misfire in cylindar 1. Is he pulling my chain? maybe it through another code?

You don't put oil in your car, let it run dry, and call it a POS? Jeez. What do you think it run's on 'Good vibes' and 'Flower power'? These motors in stock will run for ever if you just do the regular maintenance that EVERY car requires. Mabye you should take the bus.

If you have a P0301 you have no compression, no fuel, or no spark in cyl 1. Check your comp, check your ignition is firing, and check that your getting fuel.

Yes it does. The mitsu ecu cannot, the Chry ecu can.

106 PO300 43 Multiple cylinder misfire
107 PO301 43 Cylinder #1 misfire
108 PO302 43 Cylinder #2 misfire
109 PO303 43 Cylinder #3 misfire
110 PO304 43 Cylinder #4 misfire

Fancy, eh? ;)

ETX no need to start some flaming man. The 420a is a pos. I know it was my fault for not checking my oil and waiting to long, but i still shouldnt be burning that much damn oil. It is also a pos because ive been working on this fkn misfire for a year now and it keeps coming back. Maybe i just got a bad engine and should break down and buy an evo. I did wanna keep this car just for daily drive reasons though. Dont need to come on here and start flaming though just asking for some help.
