Headlights Question

Hey, i have a battery thats not charged 100%, its running a little lower than a full charged battery. Question is: Will the battery be causing the headlights to be dimmer than if i had a full charged new battery?

When your car is running the power is coming from the alternator. Either you have a shit load of accessories running or your alternator is taking a shit on you.

If you have bad alternator or bad batery relay can make this dimmer i have this problem with bad alternator.
Check your voltage when the engine's working. Normal with new good alternator and batery it's 13,9v.

The battery won't affect this. Once you turn the car on the battery dies basically you could say. It's probably a alternator as that is what powers the car after it's turned on. Or what the other two users said work as well.

Assuming your alternator is good, a weak battery won't normally be a problem for it. But of course, there is one somewhat rare exception: If the battery has a shorted cell the alternator may take it's entire current output just trying to charge the battery in which case the voltage may never get normal since the battery is pulling it down. Check your battery voltage with a multimeter with the car off, idle, and 3k rpm. Then repeat with the headlights lo beam on and report back.

Like the man said above me if the battery is to low it will cause the alternator to pull more current to the battery to try and chare it , my advise is to take the battery to a local auto parts strore have them put it on the charger and test the battery , better yet get a new Gel battery like an optima , but just about all stores have a bear tester to check the battery out

What is your running voltage? If it's less than about 14, your alternator is done.
