I just got my 3 year rebuild done and running......(3yrs thanks to work and USMC) but I noticed a coolant leak, and it appears to be coming from the head. I had the block checked-was not decked, and the head was milled slightly. I have an Ajusa HG on it now from a Jackson Auto Machine, similar to an OEM style, along with ARP's. My question is should I just pull it back off, clean it up with a scotchbrite pad nicely, and just try an MLS gasket? I tried to heat soak the HG after 30 mins of running and then re-torqing the studs but that did nothing for it. I did a search and found that is whole copper spray idea is divided. I just need to get it back on the road....

Thanks.
Richard

You torqued down your ALUMINUM head while it was hot?

Clean up the head + block and check for deck warpage.

^^^ What he said.

DO NOT torque down your head while it is hot, you need to let it cool for about 30 minutes. You did follow the bolting sequence, didn't you?

Also, you will not have much luck with an MLS unless the block and head are milled/decked to a mirror finish.

No, I let it cool for about an hour before I tried to re-torque them. I am going to break it down this weekend and check it with a straight edge and feeler gauges.
Thanks for the information guys.
