So i was wondering what everyone opinions were on turbo systems? The ones you feel are the best. which have the most boost for the least lag. what has the best setup, whats the nicest looking? any actual proof would be great. lets here what everyone thinks...

I would personally go with Hahn, they have been doing mitsubishi turbos for the longest time and have been a stable and reliable company. althought some may argue that their kits are a little pricey, i think it is worth it. And i'm pretty sure but isn't HRC and Hahn the same???. About STARR I haven't really looked at their setups yet. Goodluck!

umm, the the H in HRC stands for Hahn so two of the kits you listed are the same.

from what little reading i've done, (and i'm no 420a expert) it seems that the hahn kit is the best for bolting right up nice and easy and making good power. the star kit seems to be designed more for making alot more power down the road and takes a little more know-how to install.

so stock motor plus new to cars - hahn kit

built motor and some experience - star kit

I have the hahn kit on my 95 gs. Well worth the money, and fully able to go up in power very easily. The kit is very very nice quality and easy to install. Comes w/detailed instructions, and base tuning tips to get u started. Lets put it this way they have done their research and it shows.

I had a Hahn Stage 2 kit and I wouldn't change to any other company. Very reliable company and there are always there to help. They are always coming out with new products and more upgrades. I am now building the bottem end and putting there stage 5 kit on my car. Heard star is a pain to install and things fo wrong after a while. Setup is nice though. Pipes and turbo is already polished which mine wasn't but still looks very clean with black pipes. :thumb:

Why is star batter for later high ph gains? the hahn kit with a 20g upgrade will put up 500 (or so they say) how high will the star t3/t4 put up? and do they have a big upgrade like the hahn kit does?

That's the best thing about the star you don't have to re-buy the turbo to make 500HP. Nothing goes wrong with the star after a while, your more likely to have issues with a hahn kit down the road than a star kit. EX: Hahn's mani is Steel the Star is cast iron. I have seen more Hahn mani's crack than stars. Some of the parts in the Hahn Kit suck like the FPR. The star FPR you buy once and it works solidly and relaibly. You don't have to re-adjust the FP every 2 days like you do with Hahn's craptech. Either way if you want to make REAL power your going to have to replace parts from the kit. With Hahn you will have to replace damn near everything. (turbo, fuel system, etc.) With Star you will only have to replace the fuel system. The star directions do suck for sure, and they don't have Hahn's tech support. So basicly if you want a turbo system with staged upgrades that cost a fortune ( but are done correctly) and a nice little around the town zip turbo then go with Hahn. If you want to make REAL power for less money then go Star. If you want I have a comparrison of the 2 systems that may be a little outdated but I'll gladly send it out.

i chose the star kit myself...it cheaper, comes with better parts- bigger turbo, a real downpipe, a decent fuel system, a FMIC...to get all that with the HRC its gonna cost almost $4000 compared to $2800 for the star....

as far as power concerns, at 6.5psi i ran 14.50@98mph your not gonna see that kind of time with a HRC stage 2 kit at 8psi. most people run very high 14's with the 16g...

i raced 3 HRC turboed eclipses and cakewalked all of them with ease...turbo spools nearly as fast and makes way more power per pound of boost.

I have worked on 2 HRC installss and thought they were pretty nice overall and they have great tech support.. My friends 95 GS with the Howell bottom end kit (8.8:1) with 12-14lbs of boost ran a [email protected] 2 summers ago on stock injectors and downpipe. All this on the S16G. With 18lbs of boost it was VERY fast. He left my friends 89 GT Mustang (that runs 13.5@106) like nothing. I have not seen alot of times posted for the Star kits that had anywhere hear the trap speed of his car. But maybe there are some out there. He had his oil pump die so never got a chance to run with the 18lbs.
