ok i did a search but didnt really find a definate answer to my question. i am looking to turbo my 97rs in a year or so and i wanted to know which kit was better all around out of the Star Stage 2 and the Hahn Stage 2? plz dont giv me any biased info bout either one, i just want to know which kit truly is the best all around. thanks.:dsm:

i know that its ultimately up to me which kit to get. i started this thread to get some info as to which of these two kits is the better buy so i make the right decision as to which kit i buy.:dsm:

This has been seen too many times on the board! I think we all have finally come to agree that both have different benefits.

The Hahn kit is known to be a completely guaranteed, with warranty, and customer service backed turbo kit. However, the Hahn kit isn't exactly more streetable. True, it does have a quicker spooling turbo; but us 420a's all have FWD and that form of drive's main weakness is low-end traction. I guess this could be seen as both good and bad depending on how much boost you plan to run. High boost on an HRC turbo kit makes me think 1st and 2nd gear would be completely uncontrollable; unless a gear-regulated boost controller was used (AVC-R).

The Star kit has a larger turbo, and realistically, higher quality parts. I purchased the Star kit from Wyatt Leras (the originally known Star dealer) and waited two months for my kit. I am sure I was the last person to receive a kit from Wyatt before his distribution's disappearance. After the long wait I was extremely pleased with the quality of the parts and I think it's efficiency and design is superior. Besides the turbo the only notable differences (fuel system has nearly same output) between the two kits was that the Star kit was cheaper and came with a front mount intercooler and external wastegate.

The two kits are both a great buy. If you don't mind paying more, want the fastest spool, want direct customer service, and want your kit delivered in less than a couple of weeks from the purchase then go with the Hahn kit. If you are looking for the maximum performance potential, best looks, value priced, and have a good source to purchase from then go with the Star. Good luck.

Well that was a semi-unbiased opinion. Hahn uses Mitsu turbos which I personally have had no problems whatsoever with the quality of thier turbos. I do hate that O2 pipe but thats an easy fix. Also right now hahn is giving the FMIC free with thier turbo kits to the next 10 buyers. Who knows if it goes well maybe Bill will make it a permanent thing.

We tried not to get into this discussion. I have many things i could say in objection to what you just said, but i wont because its pointles.

Great.

To back James Hahn is the most knowledgeable people in the industry when it comes down to turboing there kit. So why didn't I go with them, well that's my own opinion. I'll tell you this though, I call them all the time because I use them for everything else short of the kit. They are a great company. I just like the star kit myself.
