wow this thread is filled with more bs than i have seen in a long time. its amazing when a stock GST can beat wrxs off the line and run low 14s/high 13s completely stock.

call the bluff all you want

free mods and an mbc had me handing my friends 88 mustang 5.0 his ass repeatedly.... then i upped the boost and got my self a tractionless wonder and lost a few times cause 1 and 2 were nothing but wheel spin
My Laser had perfect compression and 30k on the motor, trans and suspension...

we have a video if u still fail to belive my and dsm dan. I dont know, maybe i have a "ringer" of a motor...

the car is far from stock now but this was last summer

also i am a subaru service technician.... sick of hearing about the WRX... Nothin special to me. Ide take a turbo dsm any day of the week over a WRX....

as far as times go, theres many variables
weather
traction
baro
elevation
mods
etc etc

however i find it hard to belive that a stock fwd will do a mid 14

you should NOT run your mouth about times your car runs, when you havent even taken it to the track yet

my old civic did 16's and my dsm is so much faster???

so it feels "2 seconds" faster???? how fast exactly does "2 seconds" "feel" there champ?

i have the zex kit hooked up in my car and its a dry kit so i read up on that kit alot and found out that its NOT good for my car at all b/c i have a turbo, so i didnt use the zex when i raced him, im in the Process of taking it out and selling it to my friend

duhh I dont know there champ duuhhh I smoke 88 mustangs duuhh screw off. If you cant get that then you cant drive duuuhh stupid thats what you are

the only person you are making look stupid it yourself. If you want to argue with someone, you could at least have the decency to make a coherent post.

I have no clue what it even is that you just posted.

First off, where do you guys get all this eclipse FWD are 15 second cars? I clicked off a 14.7 @ 93 with a shitty 2.2 60ft time my first time at the track with my DSM FWD. These were my mods

Filter
greddy type s
BCS mod
Gutted cat
Exhaust cut after muffler flange

A Mustang GT is rarely a challenge when they are stock. I've taken them from a roll even from a stop. Now keep in mind driver skill is the biggest factor. Put a 16 year old fresh HS kid in a z06 vette and through a good driver in a 16g equipped DSM.. who do you think will win?

13 psi on the t25 high 13's low 14s? NO WAY. you better have gotten a 1.6 60ft. Even then....

either way stop complaining and start driving around. I like practicing @ around 12 PM ..=) *hint* i dont street race tho.

look I am not trying to start any fights and I am definatly not trying to flame anyone. I was just trying to open your minds to the fact that yes 14s in a stock fwd dsm are possible, and that yes a 2002 mustang gt can be beaten. But no... even after I had raced him you guys shut me down. All I was trying to do is say to the original thread starter that yes if his car was in good shape and he could drive that he could win. But I know now that saying all this isn't possible on DSMtuners without someone shutting you down without even a consideration of how it was done. You guys always shoot before you consider anything.

oh yeah and I never said that a fwd dsm was faster than a wrx I just said that I kept up with a couple...I just wanted to save you guys the time and aggravation before you flame me again.

My best with my car stock was a 15.4@88mph with a 2.3 60 foot. There is no way I could hang or beat a stock new GT mustang. But anything can happen on the street. Drivers ability matters alot. But DSMs are cars that respond great to mods. It took a MBC, a intake, IC pipes, and a catback to put down a mid 14.5 pass with a decent 2.3 60 foot. Maybe from a roll now I could beat a GT mustang. I have yet to see a FWD DSM run a 14.9 in stock form.

Not to insult you but thats pretty bad dude. I have a 98 GST automatic that ran a 15.3. Maybe you should go automatic, unless you're new to manual?

i dont argue with you taht u can beat 5.0s, since 5.0s stock are slower than the new ones(225 hp vs 260hp). new mustang GTs (99-current) consistently run low 14s/high 13s, something that not even stock awd turbo DSMs can touch. DSM blue turbo, a 14.7 is believable with those mods and actually damn good, but you will still get smoked by newer GTs. and yes stock WRXs will consistently beat stock DSMs by a significant margin, roll or stop runs.

Some of you need to practice launching. I also practice launches on un-used back roads. Then I took my car to the track. I ran mid to low 15's The next day, I had a friend help me out on launching techniques. My best run was a 14.6. That was against a Mustang 5.0 GT. Granted I have AWD and that specfic time was a perfect run, but the car was stock. With just free mods and a tune-upgrade. (better spark plugs, magnecore 8.5mm, K&N Filter). I have a picture of us lineing up in my gallery. Its white one its hard to see since it was a side shot of my car. I think the biggest reason I won is because he freaked out when I killed him on the launch. It seemed to me that the mustang never got traction the whole way down the track.............anyway my 2 cents.

hey im not trying to sound dumb or anything by any means but seems like alot of u have been to the track several times.. im not saying street racing but actual drag strips. I personally haven't been there and im just trying to get a feel for the scene. I just had a question, How much do u think having ur DSM as a daily driver affects ur time at the track compared to being just a "project" car or just a race car.. specially in the case of having a m/t and knowing ur clutch?? seems to me like most of ur dsm's are daily drivers anyway, give me some feedback if u can..

Well, thats a hard one to put a answer on. Simply because Daily Driver use varies from person to person. I driver from home to work 30 mins. through the city and I usually get in a toffle, with someone on the way there. Meaning I usually race someone every redlight I get. My clucth wears faster and more strain goes into my drivetrain, engine, turbo, ect. then someonelse whoe drives conservately 5 mins on a straight open road to work. Stock to stock (and driver to driver) that other car would beat mine. Due to normal wear and tear. The key thing about racing your daily driver is REGULAR MAINTANCE!!!! Oil changes, tune-ups, checking parts for wear, ect. Keep that up and a daily driver can be a drag monster. Just look at Sheperd. He drives his 9 second Talon to work every day.

LOL i practice launching on my way to and from work everyday when i get to thte toll booth. i toss the change in the machine and when the light turns green, off i go. works for me. o noticably quickened my reaction time. i know its stupid but read the sig.

reaction time is pretty easy to nail after a while

i leave (on a manual trans car) as teh 2nd yellow is on... yes thats right the SECOND yellow

as its on... not as its turning on or as its turning off..... as its on... i notice the 2nd yellow is on and thats when i dump it

so its " yellow, yellow(go), yellow , GREEN

sound sliek its really early but its all about hand eye...
i usually get anywhere from .490 (red light but real close) to a .540 wich are pretty respectable rt's
just tryin to help... u guys should "give her a whirl"

I just had to jump in here...last night at the track was the worst of my dsm life (i cant launch). BUT! i did get a .503 rt, yea luck i know, but it put a smile on my face! (i wasnt smiling much after seeing the 2.6 60' OMG ).

were you at capitol last night? caus I was too. What were you driving? I got a best time with with my ac on and 9psi.

Where is capitol? I have heard of it, but never been there. I live in Harford Co. so i always go to cecil county.

its off rt 3 east I dont know what city though. I got alot of runs in but the track is def prone to bad times and launches.

hmm i may have to check tht out sometime, but cecil is only 45 miun away. I hope the launch problem is me and not the track, since i only go there it better be me or ill never hit 13's!
