I am looking to get a exhaust system, and I was wondering which is a better exhaust system to get the Magnaflow or the Greddy exhaust and would I have to get headers to when I buy an exhaust.

Which is better is relative. I have neither, so I cannot give you my opinion. Remember, it is just a length of pipe. Pipe size, radii of bends, and design of muffler are really what make an exhaust perform. I think both of those have basic straight-through metal packed mufflers.

I have stainless 2.5" piping, resonator, and the muffler has 2" thick packing. Its huge, but surprisingly has no rasp at all. It is very loud and incredibly deep, (louder than I like, it rattles windows) and has a small, tolerable level of drone on the highway. It is a cheap eBay exhaust, $190 shipped, perfect fit. I like it.

No you will not have to buy a header.

Read http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=252854 for helping to choose an exhaust.

As far as the original post is concerned. I recommend the Greddy Evo 2. Performance with an incredible sound thats guranteed at under 95dba. Cant really go wrong with it and there is nothing out there that sounds like it. Period. I have heard almost all of them its just a personal favorite of mine.

4UH8ERS Do you know what the dba is for the Magnaflow exhaust.

Which exhaust is better the greddy evo 2 or the greddy sp2.

I would go with the Evo2 as a personal choice. It just seems like they're too many ricer Civics around with SP2 looking exhausts. I've read some stuff a few months ago that Magnaflow exhaust system was a decibel or two louder than stock but I might be wrong.

You're not getting even 5whp with any exhaust on a 2GNT that is not heavily modified. Period. Performance forum or not. Budget aside, your only concerns are sound and look, in that order. Is the Greddy worth $500+? I don't think so. I've had a Greddy Evo1 catback in my garage for more than a year, now. I got it for free. All I have to do is bolt it up, but I've been perfectly happy with my GST exhaust.

I know a lot of the guys want to get that cool, tuner look to their car with a polished fart cannon hanging off the ass end, but if you ask me (which you sort of did by posting in a public forum), if you spend more than $300 for a catback exhaust, it had damn sure better include the hi-flow cat and stainless piping.

^^I agree. But since this is a performance forum, then the "best" exhaust system would be the one that provides the best (aka optimal) flow of exiting gases.

I agree with you as well, though it is still relative to the build level of the engine and where you want the power to be made. (as well as future plans)

I don't want to pay $500 for an exhaust but i don't want a loud cheap exhaust so I was thinking the only choice is the Greddy.

True enough. But then again, the exhaust in that situation would be made to compliment the rest of the engine and performance modifications (thus my usage of the term "optimal").

Quit Hijacking the boys thread people all of you. Theres only 2 answers to the question he asked. Give your preference.:p

Well the magnaflow is 50-state legal as well which means it will be under the 95dba.

On the second question, I personally prefer the Evo2.

Fair enough, I apologize for the misunderstanding.

I know this has been closed, but what about a Apexi N1 Catback?

Thanks
Chris

What about it???

The same theory would apply to all exhaust systems.

Sorry I should have been a little more specific I guess with my question. Anyway, Is Apexi N1 worth it? I am thinking about ordering one but not sure about it. Street legal and all.

Thanks
Chris

It depends on what you mean by "worth it".

Ok, I have heard a lot of good things about the Apexi exhaust and I have been told that Apexi makes one of the best cat back systems. So I was just wondering if I should purchase this catback or not?

Sorry about the confusion.
Thanks
Chris

As Driggs says, you will not really notice much of a difference on a stock/near stock engine, regardless of what exhaust you choose, as far as performance goes.

For the sound, well, you shouldnt be asking others what you should buy, we all have our different tastes. I personally think the Apexi N1 exhaust sounds like raspy Honda backside. But, some people like that crap.

Talk to people at the gas station that have exhaust. Whether you like it or not, find out what they are running. Will give you an idea of what you are looking for. (Keeping in mind, the same type of exhaust on a 420a will sound a bit different than on a B18 or 1ZZ)

Once again I will have to thank you for your info. My problem is that I live in Germany and most of the so called tunners here ride in VW Golfs and dont speak very good English. Not to say that my German is any better. Anyway, it would be kind of hard to get other opinions. What did you mean by raspy Honda for sound?

Thanks again
Chris

If one of your main concerns is availability, and the N1 is the only system that is easily available to you, then you should be satisfied with that choice. Shipment pricing and wait time complicate your situation. Click on and read through the two links below. Regarding the sound of the exhaust - Look through this thread and see what you can find. If you can't find a working sound bite, then ask someone to post one up for your entertainment. If you still can't find anything, then search through this site. I'm sure you'll come across something along the way. :)

Thanks DSMunknown, I enjoyed watching and listening to the clips. My mind is set now. Under shipping though I did not see anything for shipping to a military APO. Anything on that?

Thanks
Chris

I ordered the Apexi N1 form Staight Line Specialties back in February. Still have not recieved it, so I could not tell you how it sounds and all. I am actually kind of upset with this company since no I cant seem to find out if they actually shipped the exhaust or not. They said they did on the 27th of February per phone conversation, but I really dont know?

Then you should keep at it. Ask them for a tracking number.
