I'm new to the series and pretty much racing sims in general. It seems really tough to go manual in the game, but I hate to be auto in the game when my real life car is manual. So what do you guys choose in the game?

hahahaha, that's hilarious!

as far as the tranny in the game goes, I actually switch it up sometimes, one race might be manual, another might be auto, just whatever you feel more comfortable with I say since it's all new to you

Your wish is granted.

Manual because i can maneuver turns better by switching gears with a button :thumb:
Also i have been playing the GT series for awhile so im used to it but maybe auto is best to begin

I've always used auto, just because there's really no point in having a manual. If I want to hold the shift until the rev limiter, I just hold R2. If I'm not real worried about being the absolute fastest I can be, I let it shift at redline. Makes things less complicated. I find I hit my lines a lot better with auto because I don't have to worry about anything else. However, if I do decide to get the DFP wheel, I'll change to manual then.

For some reason I CAN NOT drive automatic in racing games, I just can't do it. LOL

So much quicker as a manual, I don't know how anyone could be auto... LOL

real life or GT4 LOL

I never got used to the manual I might try to practice maunal more for GT4

I use Manual. Hell, I even created my own heel-toe, thumb -finger? style, if you get used to it, Manual is much faster.

Edit, come to think of it, I guess based on the true principles of Heel-toe, you cant really do that in the game. So I guess what I do is more comparative to left foot braking.
What I do, is hold continueus pressure on X with the lower part of my thumb, while using the tip to apply brakes. Seems to work well for me, that way I am never off throttle.

Up until now, always auto with the Dualshocks. But with the Logitech Pro Wheel I can use the paddles for manual. Plus it allows for real left foot (or in my case, left big toe) braking. So holding a smoother line is a lot easier now.
