So i bought a bov off a buddy of mine that had it in his firefly for a hundred bucks. had a "universal" flange on it. It sat in my basement for the last month, then i was reading some posts on here, and ppl talking about the universal flange that bolts directly on the 2g, so im like what the hell ill go outside and try it out. sure enough it worked. just had to get a vacuum fitting to go from bigger to smaller cause the stock one was to big. anyways i put it in and i capped the stock pipe, and it drives PERFECT. no issues whatsoever. just like i never had it on. I guess ill see how much it affect my mileage. Ill keep everyone posted on the mileage thing on the weeks to come.
btw this was on a 98 gsx.

If you aren't recirculating and don't have a MAF-T your milage WILL go down no to mention the damage it will cause with dumping all the fuel in when you let off the gas and it expects the air to be coming in. It may idle fine and whatnot but it still doesn't mean you should do it. When we say you can't vent without MAF-T we mean you can't SAFELY do it.

i know i know, i do have a proper set-up on my 91. but i figured id just try it. other than gas mileage what real damage will it cause?

Just dumping a lot of excess fuel in which can cause your o2 sensors to go bad or clog your cat up really fast. And sometimes it get real jerky inbetween shifts too.

If you want to try venting without MAFT, fine. Just don't try to convince us that it's okay.
