Good rebuild kit?

I was looking around on the internet for a new engine, or a kit to rebuild my current engine. I have a 1990 eclipse gs, i will be modding it to a gst. But first i have to rebuild, or buy a new engine, seen as how i don't know very much about cars at this time i was wondering if this is a good engine rebuild kit? And it's only $350.

I know this kit is for a turbo, but i am going to be putting a turbo in there eventually so does it matter? And is this a good kit?

EDIT: Also what is better, Standard or oversize bearing sets?
 
Funny, I just typed rebuild kits, clicked search titles only and came up with 2 pages of topics. Asking you to use the search function is not ignorant, it is a site rule. We don't mind helping you but we also expect you to help yourself too.

Have no idea if that is a good kit or not, can't see the manufacturers name. Usually you get what you pay for. I did notice there wasn't a hydraulic tensioner shown in the picture. Add another $140 for that from the parts store. Then compare that with prices from reputable dealers and vendors here on the site.

Running those pistons on a non turbo car is useless. Compression ratio is 7.8:1. Car won't have any power at all.

Have no idea what size bearings you may need. It depends if the crank has been turned or not.
 
Thanks, i'll probably just take it to a good mechanic to get a full rebuild, no sense in royally screwing myself over.

But he said hes trying to rebuild to a GST (turbo) so the lower compression will suit him fine.

I bought this exact same rebuild kit (brand is from domesticgaskets) (but with the higher non turbo pistons) and have had great results with it so far, 600 miles and its still running strong! (bought there hydraulic tensioner for 50-60$ too)

oh, and for the standard and oversize bearings question.... you have to actually take your entire engine apart and measure(mic) your entire crankshaft to find out if you need oversized, or standard bearings. my engine had 129K miles on my crank and it needed standard bearings AND pistons =]

and if your planning to turbo your car you'll need the lower compression (7:8:1) pistons! Yes the car will run on turbo pistons if you don't have a turbo, but it wont run very good...

find out if you have a 6-bolt, or 7-bolt engine because your engine might of been swapped at one time in its life.
