i just ordered a 400 hp fuel system from maperformance for almost $800.. just want to make sure its a good set up for what im running... i have an evo III 16g, tubular turbo manifold, map 2.5" o2 housing, full FMIC, an extreme psi 3" down pipe, a megan 3" catback.. next i need dsmlink, but idk what ecu i have yet.. after all of this, what do you guys think my hp will be on a good tune, running 23 lbs? i wanna aim for 500 awhp eventually, but want 400 for now... if you dont think ill be there after putting all these mods on, give suggestions please.. i still need an aftermarket cold air intake also, dont know which to go with though. thanks guys, heres link for fuel kit i bought

The MAP 400whp Fuel System - Modern Automotive Performance

I think they are just saying 400hp so they dont get sued, I checked what others have gotten with the WB 255 and you could push it 480ish.

but I also found this inline 255 LPH fuel pump (over 500hp)

im not a wiseman but they might be able to further direct you. $800 seems a little steep, is that all the lines replaced with SS?

You are going to wish you had more injector. 650's will probably need race gas to support 400hp with most setups. you need at least 750's and a lot of pressure for pump fuel, but it wouldn't hurt to go bigger than that.

so you think i can push this fuel system to 450-480? with bigger injectors or as it is?

and thats all ss lines, fpr, pump, injectors etc..

You could have gotten it about $150 cheaper from extremepsi.com

On pump gas maxxed out you can probably get around 350whp on that 16g. 23psi you will probably be around 300. (Give or take 25whp depending on your tuning ability.)

Suggestion is to definitely get DSMLink. I love it and well worth the money IMO.

You wont be at 400 on a 16g without E-85 and some cams...even then it is a stretch and takes serious tuning. I ran my FP18G6SL2 at 30 psi and I blew the thrust bearing in about a month or two. So I would have been better off at 24-26 psi, or upgrading turbos.

Yes it can be done, but more than likely you will need a bigger turbo to get to 400whp.

heres what it said on the site: This system comes standard with a Walbro 255lph high pressure fuel pump with install kit, 650cc FIC fuel injectors, and an Aeromotive adjustable fuel pressure regulator with installation kit and gauge

i really wish i woulda got the 750's now... the set up was the same price... :barf:

i dont see any of these kits on extreme...

You can bump your base fuel pressure up to help compensate for the 650s if you run out of injector. You will be fine on that 16g with pump gas.

The 255hp is good for 80psi. I run 45 psi base FP and 35 psi boost, and have been running my 255HP like that for 5k miles without problems.

You can just buy everything separately.

Yea, not to give you buyer remorse, but I recently changed my whole fuel system from my old 850cc setup., including swithcing my old walbro to that new quiet walbro pump and buying a new fpr kit to replace my old torn up AN fittings. With aeromotive FPR and install kit, pump/install kit, and FIC 1150's from JNZ tuning it was a little more than $550. So basically, the same thing you bought but with FIC 1150cc injectors for almost $200 less.

That's a good setup. You might also want to look into swapping out the stock fuel filter for something more free flowing with AN fittings.

As for how much HP can it support? Your biggest limitting factor is the injectors. Injectors don't support PSI, they support lb/min. Lb/min is also what equals power, not PSI so don't get too stuck on it. :thumb: Your 650cc injectors can support 30 lb/min at 80% duty-cycle and 36 lb/min at 100% duty-cycle. Your Evo3 16g can flow upwards of 40 lbs/min. So you will be a little limited with injectors size. Bumping the fuel pressure can help lower duty-cycle, but puts more pressure on the fuel pump which decreases it's flow. So I would say you have a goo 350hp fuel setup. You could max that 16g out if you converted to E85, picked up 1000cc injectors, DSMLink of course, and a nice sized intercooler.

The stock fuel filter is not as restrictive as people think. E85 users have had success with them, 1000cc+ injectors. Its the banjo bolt in the stock fuel line from filter to rail that is restrictive.

This link should help you with figuring out injector size with how much your turbo flows:

It really depends on your future goals and what you have to tune with. If you get DSMLink then get the 850s. If you go with an SAFC or something that manipulates the airflow reading then you might wanna stick with the 650s for tuning sake.

Both will be plenty for that 16g. You can probably max out a small 16 on 550s or get close to it...

I just bought v3 dsmlink.. really stressed about these stupid injectors.. I want to make 400-500 awhp and street drive it.. I bought the car for $4000, it needed $3000 in trans work, I sold my chevelle for $6000, and I've spent $4000 on parts so far.. I also need to pass emissions once I get the car ready.. which I'm gonna emission test it before I start beefing it up.. and does anyone have full coverage on their gsx? How much is it monthly? Expensive because its factory turbo? Thanks guys

well i ordered that fuel system saturday night, maperformance is only open monday-friday.. so i sent them a message asking them if they can change the 400hp system for a 500hp one (650cc to 750cc injectors) oh and i checked my reciept again and noticed it said 1g FWD, i own a 2g AWD... and since the kits are the same price, hopefully they will just change them out and havent started the shipping process already.. which i dont see how it could of been started since i ordered it saturday night :D i might get lucky, we'll see
