Good car cover for outdoor use?

I'd like to plasti-dip my Galant VR-4 with a dipmycar kit and then cover it up with a car cover. I find the best way to keep my car reliable is to forget about it most of the time.

I have owned car covers before and know that they have their own unique hassles.

In this case, the car will be kept outside at all times. My biggest worry is WIND. In the past, it seemed like my car covers would always get thrown around whenever it was windy. I don't want to secure the car cover with a bunch of extra crap...car covers are a pain as it is!

Any suggestions on what cover works great for outside and doesn't come off in heavy winds without having to improvise?

I use the medium size autocraft tan cover they sell at adv auto. It has grommets in the middle so you can secure it under the car with a bungee cord. The front and rear has about 6ft of elastic so it holds just fine. I don't think it's been through a hurricane like that, but probably 50mph wind gusts and 30mph all day wind in a storm.

It only lasts about 2-3 years, but has a 3yr warranty. I've had it replaced once for free. It's $70 before tax. If you buy it online and use the promo code TRT30 you can get 30% off and pick it up in the store and not pay shipping so it's about $50.

The sun fades the cover pretty bad on the top and then it started to get brittle. I took it off one day and it tore about a 3ft rip in it. The sun is freaking abusive for sure!

Oh yeah, I forgot to pull the cover off the rear bumper when I cranked it to warm it up one day and burned a hole in it from the exhaust!!! Thankfully that was on the old cover!

Thanks for that. I guess that we probably have similar winds based upon geography. I never see the winds and then one day you come out and your whole yard has been thrown around!

How is the overall fit? I think my GVR-4 might be a little bit longer...forgot exactly how much longer but I do have a shorter VIS rear bumper cover. I just don't see the DSM as being a small car or the GVR-4 being longer, but indeed both seem to apply.

I'd like to see a video of the hole in it from cranking...guess the only one you have of it is mental.

Looking back at your post....3 year warranty not lifetime...I kind of want something that is lifetime even if I have to pay a bit more....but looks like none of them are lifetime warranty anyways. Why pay a fortune then?

Haha yeah that's a great review! The gray ones aren't as good, but I had one on my other dsm for four months and it's still in good shape. I never took it off though so it didn't rip.
