420A Gears popping

Well, I wanna know why this is happening, I have a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse and sometimes when I’m in 3rd gear and I’m going slow the gear will pop out and go into neutral, it will only happen if I’m going slow, it even makes a pop sound when going itself intro neutral so yeah

Either shaft play, tension on the cables, or a worn synchronizer. If it were a worn synchronizer you would also have grinding issues engaging the gear. Cable tension is caused by worn engine or transmission mounts allowing drivetrain to rock back and forth. Shaft play would be caused by internal transmission wear such as snap rings, bearings or shims which would require a transmission rebuild.
