Hey,
My car eats a lot of gas. I cant say exact how many hours and miles i spent today(didnt pay attention) but when i came home I relalize half of the tank is empty. I know its sounds silly, but anyway can someone suggest me what to check and replace, in order to increase damn mileage? Thank you

you might want to run some fuel injector cleaner like redline s-1 or BG 44k...

It will free up some lost hp, and gave me a couple miles more to the gallon.

But more than anything, running with the A/C and general lead foot driving habits eat away at tyour mpg more...

yup, during the gas shortage they pushed the accelerating slowly thing to save gas. you could try that, but if your like me, just buy more gas!

O2 sensor going bad seems to be a common problem with people who complain about there car eating up more gas suddenly. then just check plugs and other maitenance and if you're like me inflate your damn tires to spec.

try not to rev past 2000 rpm. wats funny is dat for my car, the first 1/4 of the tank takes forever to waste... not that im complainin or anything. however, the last 3/4 of the tank seems to just waste away like its all good. theres nuttin wrong w/ the car, i guess its normal for an inline four.

i get like 615 Km'a to tank.. lasts me about a week.. (under 40 bucks (canadian) to fill)

in miles that would be around 350 miles more or less?? so that would be around 23 miles per gallon. not bad, but thats pretty much wat i get.

i've been monitoring my gas too, i just got 290 miles out of 3/4 of a tank. I changed the air filter (was dirty) hopefully that will help.....plus it dosent help that i am running rich as hell LOL,

Yea that happens to me to, i get like a shitload of miles (most times w/ ac on b/c of south fl heat lately), then the last 3/4 burns off much quicker LOL....

if you have a c.a.i., that helps increase air flow and gets rid of the shitty stock air system, helps the engine breath better. I have been getting 28-31 mpg in the last couple fills. I usually shift around 3000-3500 rpms and go pretty good, maybe don't keep it down around 2000 since you have to put the pedal down further to make the car go, keep it around 2500 or 3000. just some advice from wha tI do, every car is different though

damn are u sure about 31 mpg? sounds pretty high. anyways, 3500 rpm is fine, im just really cheap and like to save as much as possible :D the only problem with drivin at 2000 rpm's is dat "hooked up cars" wanna pass me, and i get pissed so i get right on their asses and end up racin...

You guyz get crap gas mileage. I get 32mpg an the interstate with alittle lead foot action on the onramps and a few miles in town. Just do the maintence. I used redline fuel cleaner, Royal Purple 10w-30 oil, New NGK Iridium plugs, 300+ thundersport wires. I like my gas mileage just not my N/T performance.

My car is all stock, except for a new intake. Ever since I bought it new in '97, I've gotten about 30-35 mpg in the summer, less in winter (15 minutes in the driveway warming up every day). Checked the mileage 2 days ago when filling up....423 miles on 12.7 gallons = about 33.3 mpg.
I've used 89 octane up until last month. With gas prices now around $2.10 for the 87, that's what I've used, doesn't seem to make a difference.

I'm getting about 400kms to every tank with a KN Filter and Octane Booster. But, I just added Lucas Oil Stabilizer and it seems like I'm running smoother but using more gas. What's up with that? And, one last point. For all the guys in America complaining about gas prices, in Canada our gas is about 10-15 cents more expensize after converting from metric to American, so try not to complain.

Since I installed the AFX/R ECU, I've been able to get a good 420-460 miles per tank with a lot of stop & go in Phoenix rush hour gridlock with the AC on (and that's actually a gain of about 50-60miles). Still translates out to be about 30mpg. With the price of 91 octane these days, I get the privilege of spending about $150/month on gas. Damn. You can spin the numbers however you want, you still end up getting screwed at the pump.
