Fuel sending unit not working

Problem recently happened on the GSX, original problem was that my fuel gauge was reading empty when I had roughly 5 gallons of fuel. I removed the sending unit and moved the float in the full position and it moves the gauge, but only to a little past a quarter. Tested resistance and I get like 57ohms when empty, and somewhere around 2ohms when full. I don't think my gauge itself is faulty. Anything I can check? Could my problem be the driver side sending unit?

if you have a test light you can unplug the sending unit and probe the wire that feeds the sending unit . the test light will be very dim .what you do is ground that wire and see if your gauge goes to full. if it does then your sending unit is bad.

I would start out by checking the plug on the sending unit, it might seem like a good connection, but could be loose. I had a similar problem then I replaced the plug with spades and havent had problems since. You can remove the sending unit, turn the key onto accessory,manually move the float to make it have the lower resistance and show full then use a jumper wire to bypass the plug and see if it makes any difference, if it does repair the plug.

Fixed. The sweeper that contacts the little leads changing the resistance as the float moves wasn't contacting in the middle. So empty and full worked but anything inbetween didn't show correctly
