Ok so I got a 2nd eclipse 1995 gst) last Monday and it started fine when I bought it, brought it home and now it won't start. I can't hear the fuel pump running, but I can't seem to locate the fuse or relay anywhere. On my GS the relay was right on the firewall but the gst doesn't have it there. If someone could explain where the fuse is and where the relay is I'd greatly appreciate it.

Are you getting spark also? If not it may be the fuse in the engine bay near your intake filter. It's marked "motur" or something. It's a 20 amp fuse BTW. Did you take your backseat out and check for power at the plug?

I have good spark and have checked for power at the pump. Theres power but when doesn't kick on the fuel pump. I have a new pump on the way but thought i'd check the relay and fuse too

The fuel pump will only run while turning the key, unlike many vehicles that start sending fuel when the key is turned to ON. As far as the fuse/relay that you're looking for, it is the MPI and is on the low right side behind the radio slot. On all of my 2gs its been a blue/white connector and has four prongs. You can look up test specs its easy to check the resistances vs book spec. If your pump isn't firing up it could also be a cam or crank sensor, which is what the ECU checks to determine when to fire the injectors.

Are you 100% sure there is no fuel pressure? The stock pumps are pretty quiet. May want to pull the return line and put something there to catch runoff and crank for three or four seconds just to make sure its actually a pump issue and not just the ECU not firing the injectors! Good luck!

Well the whole turning the key is a problem. the kid before me was an idiot in my opinion, to start the car you turn the key to on and then its a push button start.

Putting a push start won't be a problem, correct me if I'm wrong but Fullthrottle states the ecu checks for cam or crank motion to fire up the injectors

yeah it does but I wasn't positive that the push start would still do that. the pump should be here tomorrow so hopefully that fixes the problem

As long as you have the key in the ON position and the push button turns the motor over, the CAS and CPS should send appropriate signals for the ECU to interpret when to inject fuel and fire spark. However, depending on the push button install, who knows how well the wiring was done. Maybe the MPI is no longer being switched so the pump may not be getting the appropriate duty cycle signal.

Im not 100% sure if measuring power at the pump means that it should work, it was my understanding that there is a constant like that, and that the ECU will then adjust the amount of fuel pumped by varrying the connection to ground with a duty cycle to allow more or less fuel to go to the rail, however I could be mixing my EVO and DSM knowledge together on accident. Just be methodical. Check for pressure at the rail. If there is none, measure the MPI resistance. Check the push button wiring closely, that would be my suspicion since its the major change from stock operation!
