So I checked out a 95 GS-T today with 105k on the clock, and the ticking noise was coming from the top/front of the motor...my friend and the seller both said it was the fuel injectors, and my friend started up his srt-4, popped the hood, and it had a similar noise. I never really noticed that noise before, but while checking the car over I noticed it right away with the hood popped. I didn't think to push the clutch in to hear if it got louder, and the clutch didn't have any problems during left hand turns. Any feedback? Also, anyone here have any rust on the sides of the engine compartment? I would be all over that car if it wasn't for that damn rust :(

The injectors do make a ticking noise all due. with 105 on the clock the lifters are probably also ticking.

Are they stock injectors?

I would put more on it being lifter tick. But with a description like you explained it could be a combo of both.

yes, stock injectors. Car is all stock, actually...rear brakes squeal a bit, need new pads probably...but they're VERY strong brakes, he said he put some brembo's up front. Was thinking of offering him 4400 for the car, 95 gs-t 105k all original, one foglight is cracked, one headlight seems to be a little hazed compared to the other one. 2 areas of rust inside the engine bay, one on each side. A few scratches on the body, 2 scrapes...otherwise it looks to be in good shape. Leather interior has wear like usual on a 10 year old car. Clutch seems fine, tranny is alright. It grinded going into first, but I think I just didn't have the clutch down all the way, didn't do it again after that. Also, a little water was dripping underneath while the car was idling with the A/C on. What do you guys think?

I have a 98 GSX and just had some rust in the engine compartment. Mine was on the front left strut tower. Since the motor mount is just below this area (high stress area), good idea to get it fixed (especially before drastically increasing the horsepower of the car). The bill to fix was ~$400. In my case, the Mistu Rep agreed to pay for half the cost...which is better than nothing...

How big was your area of rust?

The rust was about 3-4" long. It ran along the seam. My guess is that water and salt got in from underneath the wheel-well. I think that the seams are caulked or something, so maybe the caulk job was poor...
