i have a 1990 talon awd tsi that got ran off the rode and into some trees. the bodys totaled but the motor and drivetrain is good. i just got a 1990 laser FW auto na. im trying to convert it all over im pulling the wire harness and running the hydraulic lines. what all needs to be done for the all wheel conversion i know i have to make mounts for the drive shaft, im running a fule cell so the tank is no prob. any help would be good

Completely different rear suspension and chassi structure. Going to take a whole lot of work to do.

the question basically is how much will bolt up and how much is going to be hell to do. becaus i have 2 lifts in my shop both cars are on it and im taring them down now

I believe ^^^ that was the answer. I don't think anything is really a bolt on affair back there. One clue to that is the fact that FWD 1gs don't have the driveshaft tunnel that AWD models do.

That sucks man . I just got a junk title on my 90 . Not streetable anymore . Kind of far and I don't know about changing the title back to a regular title . I would have given (free-free) you my shell . Good luck anyway . :thumb:

I hate to be the one to say it, but... buy an AWD car that may need some work drivetrain wise and use the good parts from your crashed AWD. It will most likely save you time and money in the end. :talon:

The conversion is much easier and more practical on a 2g than a 1g. Doing this on a 1g is just a waste of time for how little of money you can buy one for now days.

true that, me and two of the guys that work for me at my shop are all about this. were trying to do something to put our names out there this is more than likely going to be a full drag car there are no real ideas set yet.

If it's going to be an all out drag car gut it, buy some slicks, and keep it fwd.

+1000!

dsm mad man - Have you searched our forums yet? Many members have pondered this idea and I have yet to see someone pull it off other than RRE and even they admit that they'll never do it again.

i could always just put the tsi on the frame machine and use the font wheel for parts, i know some people use the MKIII supra trans and make it rear but some one told me about using a turbo 350 trans with an adapter plate and making the motor inline

The easy way (and cheeper) would be to pull every last bit of bent sheet metal off the AWD and replace it with all the FWD sheet metal.

The body shop will LOVE you LOL

body work is what i do at the shop i run and i have other people for motor and ect. but i think im going to just buy a new all wheel shell and start over the easyer way
