I know the AWD front swaybar is already good, but i got a ST swaybar for free(he owed me), and every little bit helps. I have the swaybar just hanging there right now(stock one), and can't seem to figure out how to wiggle it out. I lost my haynes manual, which adds to my problems. Any help here, oh, and i don't want to have the taken anything big off to do this, really.

I had a hard time not using something I paid for, so I am running both bars on my car, which is apparently what you're supposed to do... Now, granted I have really tested the car as hard as I would like to, but I can't see a huge difference other than the tires aren't rubbing in moderately hard corners.

You'll have to remove the large main subframe bolts, and kinda let the whole thing sag to remove the OEM bar (will take some force from a pry bar if you don't drop the entire subframe and kick aside). The isntructions for the ST bar say to drill the indicated hole to mount the urethane end links along the bottom of the lower subframe. Tip that may make it a little easier... If the car is on a lift, leave the arms on, and first ues a step drill for the lower part of the arm, then use the enlarged hole as a pilot to drill all the way through. if it's on the ground maybe you should pull the arm entirely and do it on the bench to avoid crooked holes....

Hope it helps..

Wow, um, i thought you just replaced the stock arm, not added another arm. I can see how lowering the subframe will help though, thanks, i'm just going to replace the swaybar.

Then why am i removing the stock bar? Was i supposed to remove it?? some instructions would be nice, i looked on ST's site and they got nothing.

Your going to want to reinstall the stock front bar. My directions are long gone, I did the install 2-3 years ago. From what I remember there are two large subframe bolts that you have to remove to mount the bushing mounts for the the ST bar. You bolt the bar to these brackets. Next you have to drill some existing holes in the lower control arms larger and assemble the endlinks. The directions from ST were wrong for the endlinks, I drew a picture in paint, I'll see if I can find it.

Just remember, stiffening the front cuts down on oversteer, but increases the likelihood of understeer. I'm only running an upgraded rear swaybar on mine; the stocker up front is just fine.. and tossing on a part just because you have it laying around isn't always the best idea.

hmm...this is going to require thinking. I'll re-install the stock bar tomorrow and through the ST one in there and see if those pictures make alot of sense then.

On 1g's the front sway bar reduces understeer becuase of our crappy camber curve.

by putting on the front sway bar it will keep the car flat and reduce weight transfer. if you don't have any or enough weight transfer the car will understeer. the sway bar will keep the tire flat on the ground but with no weight transfered on it its still not going to grip very well.
