Front Differential?

Do our cars (2nd gen AWD) have a LSD for the front like in the rear? or is it an open diff like in a Stealth? I've researched but couldn't find anything, kinda frusterated at this point....anyone know??

Our awd's are actually two or three wheeled drives from the factory. I guess the badging didn't look as cool. The front is open but you can get a kaaz or quaife lsd for the front if you want.

I knew it...so it IS like the Stealth. That would explain a surprising loss of control during this one incident I had this past winter, open diffs suck! I'll definitly be getting one of those LSDs before next winter. Thank you so much for the info, you made my day.

I have one more question though, what exactly is a 4 Spider Center Differential? what does it do?

A 4 spider dif means that there are 4 spider gears in the dif instead of the normal 2. It effectively doubles the difs ability to handle torque as the torque is split 4 ways.

Correct, all DSM's have an open front diff. They are weak, only put power to one wheel, leave peg legged burnouts, and often break off teeth or seize up. In short, they suck.

I bought a KarKing ATB front diff and its a world of difference. It pull great, spins both, and corners much better.
