I just finished building my motor, and putting it in.

Runs good while driving, but wont idle right.

Fidanza flywheel
Fidanza pressure plate (used)
Slowboy Street Disk
New slave cylinder
Extreme PSI clutch line
New rebuilt pedal assembly from Shep
Bled Properly
New OEM TOB and clip

When i push in the clutch the rpms drop and pick back up. Let off, they go up. This is causing a stall when the clutch is pressed in coming to a stop, not ruling out other idle issues, but the clutch is deff strange. After installing all of the parts, the pedal pressure is high, and you can only feel the pressure about half way though the pedal swing. The clutch engages right off the floor, and i mean right now. This is confusing me, like alot.

someone please help, trying to make the shootout.
 
Sounds like your clutch setup is pretty sound. I think its more of an idle issue. I would expect to see more pedal pressure with an aftermarket pressure plate. I seem to remember reading something a while back about a longer rod for the slave cylinder. Search into that for your issue about the low engagement point.
 
Did the biss adjustment. All the rod adjustment is gonna do is improve the pedal. Dont see how thats going to stop the rpm drop.

An improper clutch adjustment will cause it to drag and will shorten it's life span.

Make sure you adjust your clutch rod the way it is described in the video about 5 minutes in.
 
What i guess im trying to tell you is pedal feel don't always tell you if your clutch is correctly engaging or disengaging. It has to be adjusted like the video sugest. It is designed as the clutch slowly wears it adjust pedal pressure so you never feel the wear. This is how it could be out of adjustment. However if you feel this is not your issue then it don't matter. Now your ecu has two different maps open loop and closed. It maybe an ecu issue. It could be the isc circut is dead.

Nothing was ever resolved, couldnt find anything. I have an ACT setup. So idk if its just cause of aftermarket clutch/flywheels but mine is bad, drops200 Rpms with clutch and dies often. Soooo just my 2 cents, but since no problem was found anywhere, I just up'd my idle to about 1100, so when the clutch is in it's still at 900 and still gives a little room to drop further if it needs to and won't get anywhere close to dying now, probably not a correct fix, but does the trick . :)
 
Sounds to me like an improperly set up thrust bearing.

My issue isnt like this, i have now ruled it to be some combination of my isc and ecu acting up. DO NOT drive your car. I walked a built 6 bolt cause i thought nothing of the same problem you have. ACT clutch also, pressure plate failure is what im told, wont compress as easy as it should at all, causing too much force to be applied to the flywheel-crank-thrust bearing. I have pictures to prove this.


My pedal problem ended up being that the fulcrum ball in my trans must have been shimmed by the previous owner. With a thick ass lockwasher AND a regular washer. WOW. New clutch, new fulcrum ball, new OEM TOB, new TOB clip, new extended slave rod for good measure. She works great and makes no noise :)
 
I have just completed a gst a/t to a gsx 5 speed and am experiencing the same issue. I have used the search here to complete the swap and am following this thread closely. I'm going to try a few of the suggestions here through the next couple days and whatever I find I'll let you know. I know there are certainly more than just a few reasons that cause this issue and in my case probably a combination of things. Biss adj., clutch adj., crank walk(probably crank position senser contact), and MAS are just a few that I've read about so far. Hopefully we find our problem soon cause I'm dyin to play with this one cause the wife won't let me thrash on hers anymore. :(

Did some of the checks today and made some changes that were needed but they were all to no good end. I was told the engine I got for the car only had 23k on it so I didn't do the normal checks before installing it. DUMB***! I have severe "thrust bearing failure". When the wife pushed in the clutch with the engine off, I probably needed a tape measure to get the endplay. Morale of the story, CHECK BEFORE YOU INSTALL!
 
Yep, I bought the built motor off my friend, checked out fine. Put it in and all together, and the clutch setup was shot. About 1200 miles later i realized how i had pissed away the grand i paid for the bottom end as i grabbed ahold of the crank pulley and moved the crank in and out a considerable amount. Moral of the story here on my end, never overlook any, ANY issue.
