Yeah fellas, right now I'm shopping for a turbo, and come upon a FP Big28....I know this turbo is a direct bolt on replacement for the 2g Eclipse/Talon, but I own a 92 Talon...Does anyone know if this turbo will bolt on correctly to my 1g car without any serious problems or headaches??...your help will be appreciated as always...peaaace

main difference, lower IC pipe. so... technically, it will "bolt" on, then you have to get a new LC pipe or something.

Is there a reason that the 1G turbos outlet faces up, whereas the 2G outlet faces down? Is there something in the way of the 1G LICP path that makes it neccessary for the turbo outlet to face up?

its just WAYYY cheaper for 1G guys to go 16G.

No kit, no new piping, just straight forward swap.

A Big28 will fit and run good, you WILL need a 2G lower IC pipe at minimum, and some water line bending will be in order.

Will run good. Then you can tell everyone its a T25 and they won't know the difference.

Super quick spool, decent top end pull.

Much like a Small 16G with big testicles :thumb:

No reason in particular, they are just made by different companies. 1g is mitsubishi heavy industries, 2g is garrett w/mitsu exhaust housing. I suppose mitsu could have turned around the compressor housing so that it would go straight down into the LICP...wonder why they didn't. It sould seem like it would get better airflow...less bends to go through.

Are you getting a really good deal on the t-28? I wouldn't pay too much for it, they tend to be a bit pricey compared to other turbos. If your worried about lag, look into the evo III 16g. It has lightweight internals and spools up only a hair slower than my t-25, that and it'll put a t28 to shame. They are around the $530-600 range which is pretty reasonable.

I've actually been looking into this swap for a while - but couldn't get anyone to tell me exactly what'd need to be done to make a Big28 to fit a 1G. I already have stainless lines going to my 14b, and if a Dejon Lower 2G pipe would fit, then that'd pretty much be it? It'd prolly go pretty well with a modified SMIC or a FMIC too.

that would be interesting, i dont thnk ive ever heard or met anyoine in a 1g running an fp 28. i knew one guy who ran a t25 on his 1g as some stupid experiment he was doing  anywho let me know how it works out. :dsm:

why would you put a fp28 on a 1g??? there are alot bolt-on turbos that are better and whole lot cheaper to put on your 1g. :thumb:

I just might can get a particularly good deal on this turbo, it's slightly used, but hopefully will be a little cheaper(I'm on a budget) than a brand new b or e316g...plus I'll be doing piping for my fmic anyway, sooo that's no big deal....thanks for the help guys...peaace

you will need a new oil feed line.
