Yo mad props to Turfnsurf. That article was excellent. I want to show off my work now.

On thing... you have got to have ALOT i mean A WHOLE LOT of tiem on your hands to tapeof and cut out each one evey one of those letters. I just CAREFULLY sanded them after i was finsihed.

I didnt want dust or anytign else afftering my work so i suspended it

I wanted a deeep blue and that blue they offered was too light so i put on a few coats of purple.

Looks good :D I painted my valve cover a deep blue too, and that masking off of the letters was a b*tch alright.. :thumbdown I didn't do it right the first time, so the second time I didn't mask any of the letters off, then once it was completely dry I just took a dremel w/a polishing bit and that took the paint off of the letters easily

To mask off areas like those letters, where you're not going for a show-finish (because you'll be cleaning them up after painting), put tape over the whole area and use a piece of fairly soft wood (pine) and a hammer to cut the tape. Put the endgrain of the wood against the edge of the letters and give the wood a fair (not hard) smack. The edge of the letter will cut the tape. Peel off the cutaway.
 
u could also put one big strip over the letters, use a sharp exacto knife and trace around the edges with the knife and peel off the access learned that in art class LOL
