Fixing rust in rear wheel wells?

I noticed that there seems to be surface rust under the black near the bottom of the rear wheel wells it looks like its around a plug or something facing the front.

Curious how hard this is going to be to fix? I am not even sure what is behind that. getting pretty sick of rust.

if its just surface and not through, sand it down to the metal then spray it with ruberized spray paint

I think its surface rust, its bubbling underneath that black crap on the inner wheel well.

I got the same rust, i had to remove the rubberized undercoating to get to the rust, mine was right by the side skirt. Still working on fixing it.

i just rebuilt that same spot on my girlfriends esi it was completely gone so i used screen and bondo then sprayed it with rubberized under coat and you cant tell there was ever a hole there.

Remove the undercoat so that you have the rust as well as about an inch and a half of paint around it. Then grind the rust down with a 40grit flap wheel or similar. After all the rust is gone, sand the paint leaving about a half inch left before you hit undercoat. Apply rust converter to the area the rust was. Once that's set, etch prime it all, then reapply undercoat.

I had to remove my sideskirt on my Talon and replace the rocker, wheel well, and pinch welded seam. I still have to do the driver side.
