So I'm chasing the rabbit down its hole and have somehow found myself dropping the fuel tank. After cleaning it up a bit I realize the PO had "fixed" the return line with what appears to be JB Weld and fiberglass resin.
Prior to this, I couldn't disconnect the fuel feed line from the sending unit so I unbolted the sending unit. This resulted in three consecutive snapped studs despite soaking with penetrating oil for a few hours, tapping with a hammer prior to each addition of penetrating oil and using an impact wrench at the lowest setting. This obviously needs to be fixed along with the fuel feed line, but should I leave the fuel return line as is, remove the JB weld and get a better look, or light a match and burn it and replace with a different tank?
