Winnipeg,
Looking at buying this car. He's down to only $1000.

Heres the ad......

1992 Eagle Talon TSi AWD - 5 speed!!!

UNDER THE HOOD

· Fully rebuilt 1G 7-bolt motor (no crank walk issues like the 2G & balance shaft removed) only 4500KM on it!
· ACT Clutch Kit installed (street series)
· Flywheel Machined
· Small 16G - able to make over 300HP when boost is turned up!!!
· Walbro 255
· 4 bolt rear end
· New spark plugs
· Oil change done as of April 1st/2010

Exterior and Interior

· Flat Black
· Brown Leather interior
· ZERO rust!!
· Front Strut Tower Bar
· Comes pre wired for system & Pioneer speakers (does not come with deck!)

* Overall the car runs extremely well and is really fast due to the 16G turbo upgrade.
* It just needs a paint job and your set for a long time!

$ 1500 OBO – AS IS! Needs nothing for Safety!!

Car is flat black with no rust, and the engine looks really clean in the pictures.

Heres a few more things he said to me in emails....

* It may need a timing belt tenisoner (I noticed today that the belt is only on the cams 90% while idling- I had it checked and it is still safe to drive, suggested to be replacing tenisoner in future. When motor was rebuilt previous onwer didn't replace the tensioner with new one)
* Doesn't have timing belt cover (that's how I bought it so wasn't an issue)
* Oil pressure needle never worked (that's how i bought it)
* Needs corner lights, and one tail light bulb replace

GOOD LIST

* Brakes are excellent - grab hard! (upgraded front brakes - huge rotor)
* Power steering
* Power windows
* Power mirrors (drivers side has a crack)
* Windshield - no cracks!
* Rear wiper works!
* A/C - (needs recharging - I was going to remove but selling car so didn't bother to do so!)
* Walbro 255
* Fuel pressure gauge installed
* Alloy rims with Great all season tires!
* Pre wired for subs
* Flywheel Machined
* ACT Clutch - EXCELLENT engagement. Great for street, EXCELLENT for track!
* Transmission/ T-case (transmission shifts very smooth) 23 spline!
* Cruise control works (bonus for long highway trips)
* Motor runs very strong (4500KMs on it)
* Upgraded to s16G turbo boost hard, good for AWD
* Stock 4-bolt rear end (most early 1992 had the 3-bolt that sucked)
* Plugs and wires were replaced
* ABS
* Coolant Flushed!
* Oil change done!
* Transmission/T-case Fluid replaced!
* Fresh Battery installed
* Stock suspension, replaced just before I bought this car
* Tie rods, replaced before I bought this car
* E-brake very strong

It shifts real smooth, clutch engages nicely being an ACT series. Also kept at stock boost setting as per wastegate, never have loss boost pressure! No boost controller installed. Still on stock ECU, I had a SAFC2 and Data logger installed and I didnt have to change any setting so I removed them. This car is in overall excellent condition!!

What do you think? How hard is the timing belt tensioner to fix?

sounds ok but ull need to get a timing cover and replace the tensinor. timing is not that hard to do just takes some time and double and triple check to make sure everything is lined up, and u def. want to get the oil gauge working other than that it sounds ok sink some cash into it and will be a good car

Dont you guys run without timing covers all the time?

And is the oil gauge really all that important? Most stock ones are pretty inacurate I thought, and I can just check the dipstick once a week like I usually do.

I'm coming from a v8 backaround so I know nothing about these tuner cars. Always wanted one to play with though.

For 1000, I would buy it, test drive it first obviously but it sounds like a killer deal, and if you have to change the auto tentioner, you mightt as well change the belt why your at it. As far as your question on how hard is it to change the tentioner, its a pretty involved and serious project. You are gonna need to be able to jack up the car and remove the driver side wheel, undo your driver side motor mount along with your front motor mount, then place a jack under the engine on the oil pan so you can raise or lower the engine as needed, but be sure to place a piece of wood in between the jack and the oil pan before you jack it up as you could crack or dent your oil pan, you will then need to remove your excesory belts and what ever is in the way or keeping you from getting your timeing cover off, once you have that off, you will need to relese your tentioner pully to relese the pressure off the t belt and once its off you are free to remove the auto tentioner. timeing is a VERY important part of your engine, and is VERY easy to screw up, there are alot of write ups one here that explain how to change your belts and timeing componants, and v-faq.com has a very good step by step walk through on how to do your timeing. also make sure you bag and label evry thing you pull off your engine, evan takeing pictures as you go can really help. buy the way this car you are looking at has a few decent mods, and with a few simple mods you can have yourself a pretty fast little street car, I would see if he still has the data loger and safc and try to get him to throw those in,then get a boost controler and boost guage, and he said he has the fuel pressure guage, but it doesnt say he has a fuel pressure regulator, because if he is running a stock fuel pressure regulator with a walbro255, my guess is the car is running ritch, I would ask him about those things.

Sounds like a great buy, make sure you test drive it and ask for any more information about the car. Also try to get on it a little bit just to make sure it doesn't bog at high RPMs.

you should have the timing belt cover, (someone told me on here) there is a chance of something flying up and getting in the belt and maybe cause it to skip a tooth never know. Better be safe and just pick one up. sounds like a good deal

I agree, at the very least ispect it for cracks, or if its brittle, if so change it for sure

u really should run timing belt cover dont want rocks or other road crap getting in the timing belt. and an oil gauge is always a good thing to have stock or aftermarket..

On any car they can be important. If your oil pressure drops, you know the oil pump just failed. if it shoots up, you know something is wrong like a blocked passage. Turbo motors are a bit more sensitive to oil pressure than bigger V8s.

It's easy to get to though. Looking in from the driver side wheel well, it would be in the left side of the motor. :p

Alright. I'm buying it. Its 12 hours plus away from me, so unfortunately I cant test drive it first, going to get it brought to Winnipeg on a train. I've asked him lots of questions, and unless he's straight up lying, it sounds good. Even if he's lying broken tsi AWD's go for more than $1000 around here LOL.

def worth buying...you could part out and sell for more than what u pay for it, if it doesn't work out and turns out to be junk

Update

Seller refuses to give me the VIN, after asking a few times. Something must be up bigtime LOL. So if anyone else was looking STAY AWAY!! LOL. Deadbeat seller :notgood:

Sounded like a good deal till he won't give you the vin. Did the seller say he had a title in hand? I would definatly check that out.
