so drove the car over to my friends detailing shop on friday night, and then today went by to see what was going on, he didnt work on it over the weekend since he took the weekend off, and i dont really need the car yet, i was gonna send my cousins to get plates for it this week, but when he was cleaning the headlight he noticed the timing belt really loose, heres a photo, during the week the timing belt was i mean not tight tight but if u pressed on it it was a bit loose, but stayd on the cams, then i saw this today and you can like pull the belt off its teeth on either side, im pretty angry and i dont know what this is gonna cost to fix, id do it myself but we cant move this car without having it towed and my buddys flatbed clutch just gave out so no help

im hoping nothing ####ed up though

coming from a 2g turbo experience, but mine looked like that when i didn't tighten my tensioner pully down enough when first doing my timing belt job. maybe your tensioner lost its will to tension as well.

yea this is my 95 gsx auto, i just got it and trying to get it on the road

If i were you I'd reset the timing. Its a pretty easy job, takes about a hour. follow the tech guide

You're probably going to need a new belt, tensioner pulley because it will be out-of-round, and a new bolt. Make sure you thread-lock and use a good torque wrench along with the special tools.

i am, what else should i get? isnt the water pump down there too?

any performance shop on here have any good parts for it? links?

Sounds like your hydraulic tensioner. Go with all OEM timing components and don't forget about the balance shaft belt or elimination as well as any accessory belts.

DO NOT START THE ENGINE WITH IT LIKE THAT!

The belt will be a little loose, but like that you can practically pull the belt off of it. Get a timing belt kit from one of the vendors, parts dinosaur, or mitsubishi. I've found that the stuff from PD is good, but a lot of people will only run OEM stuff.

Again, don't start the engine with it like that. Get the parts and fix it first. Changing a timing belt is much easier than changing out a head.

too late

just ordered the timing belt kit for 200 bucks for pd, but a bmw tech just aligned it, and started it up, and checked to make sure, and the belt tightened right up, but now its sitting outside the detailing shop and its waiting for a tow back ehre to my uncles shop, pd said i will get the parts in 3 days so once it does get here that night its getting a new tensioner and etc

They get loose when you let them sit, look for that thread, but not like that. And they will tighten up, but that is way too loose. You only have like 5 teeth engaged in that picture! If it ran when you started it, you have not bent a valve, you lucked out : D

yea i did, i hope its not loose again when i go again to see it and bring it back
