external or interal wastegate with this turbo?

SBR cast manifold ported. PTE 50 trim or FP green. Internal or external wastegate??? This car is built to be a weekend/night driver and a few runs at the track and running on 93 octane.(race gas at track) Supporting mods listed in profile. Im torn between the internal or external gate.

There is no real answer to this. external is better but the question is how much better? is it worth the cash ? thats up to you. the Pimp factor alone of an external is what pushes me over the edge to get an external . Internals do and will leek at high boost. check out Slowboys thread on the turbo testing the internal gates are limiting some of the turbo's.

There really is no down side to an external if you properly re-reoute the dump. I've been fooling with internally gated turbos for years, porting this, shimming that all to come to long overdue conclusion that even with an optimally setup internal, an external would perform exponentially better at regulating boost and aid spoolup.

It's also a one-time cost. So next turbo purchase will be instantly $100+ cheeper since it does not have an internal gate, and no worries about creep, ever again

Go external. You wont have to deal with boost creep and such. Just get a tial knock off, and it shouldn't cost much more than having the turbo internally gated.
