Anyone know of a easy way to clean pine sap of my cap with out hurting the piant?

thank you in advance
Paul

Go to a local body shop and grab a bottle of 1500 polish... its not wax its a buffing compoud but if you use it by hand with some elbow grease it'll take out scratches fix light oxidation and take stuff off the surface like the sap youve got

I use Turtle Wax's Bug, Tar and Tree Sap remover. It works very well, even takes fiberglass resin off paint without hurting it.

Same here. Car I bought once was parked under a pine tree of some sort and was covered in sap. Worked great for getting it off

Today after reading this post, I went out and bought Turtle Wax's "Bug & Tar Remover" It worked well on the sap that was still sticky but any hardened sap remained the same even after a generous amount of elbow grease. The paint seemed unaffected even after using a lot of force but it's a cloudy day so its hard to tell for sure.

Tomorrow I plan to go at the hardened spots with:
Ice - Its supposed to make the hardened sap brittle enough that you can carefully chip it away
Rubbing Alcohol - Will soften the hardened sap so it can be removed
Mineral Spirits - I guess it's the same effect as the rubbing alcohol but less diluted / more concentrated?

I'll post the results after tomorrow and answer any questions (gotta get through my newbie status!)

I'll post a pic that covers before and after. Left side of the hood is using the stuff I bought and microfiber clothes and 5 hours of elbowgrease!

Every one of those white spots on the right side is a small stubborn spot of sap

The trick is to let it sit, the forcefully use your fingernail with the cloth until no more will come off. Then spray to spot again and let it sit while going to the next spot.

Rinse and repeat about 10-15 times for each spot til perfection. The more crystallized the sap, the more times it'll take, but the cleaner will get it all off!

I'd follow up the sap remover with some quik detailer. If you have more time a full wash. If you have even more time, clay bar then wash, then quik detailer. Also avoid parking under sap-full areas .. LOL.

edit: Wow thread is old. Just realized.
