Exhaust Systems that Sound Like an SRT-4

Have an exhaust system that sounds like an srt-4? Like where it has the loud rumble and popping when slowing down

. fyi you cant make a 4g63 sound like a different kind of motor. and if im not mistaking the popping is just holes in the exhuast amd their prob not useing a cat. or muffler.

They pop because they don't use decel fuel cut. You want it to sound like an SRT4 then buy an SRT4.

I knew I was going to get someone to say that . I can't get a srt-4 because I already have my car and can't get another one. And what is decel fuel cut?

And I don't have the 4g63. I have the 420a. And they don't have holes in their mufflers or anything, stock srt-4's sound beast and I was just wondering if there's anyway in getting my 420a to sound like that

That causes all the back pressure and everything? Is there anyway I can do that for my 420a?

Sure. Shut your car off while driving, floor it, turn the key to the on position and let out the clutch so the car starts back up again. That's good for a real loud bang. Without some sort of standalone that allows you to deactive it no there isn't.

i have a hole in my downpipe from scrapping right now and when i down shift it pops and sounds cool, but its killing power and im getting the treadstone soon. so if you want it to sound like that so bad just put a hole in it, although it is a very dumb idea and i would never do it purposely.

so like someone else said, if you want a srt4 sound- buy one!

Just look at what the stock SRT4 system uses, minus cats and try to rig that stock bs up to your car and get a system that allows fuel on decel like stated.

so you are trying to make a 420a sounds like a 4g63t? i dont think it will be possible to make it sound the same.... you could probably just get an srt4 exhaust and mod it to fit your eclipse, good luck with getting it to sound similar though...

Also, the reason they are loud stock is because SRT4s just have a cat and a resonator stock. No muffler. Well that is what some srt4 owner told me. The backfiring is definitely from no fuel cut on decel though.

The SRT4 has to have the worst sounding car/exhaust Ive ever herd. I'm all about having a loud exhaust but it gurgles, pops, and bangs the whole time the engine is running. I hate that car, but on a positive note put a cutout on your car for when you wanna wake the neighbors.

I'm running an Evo 8 Ecu (and I have a 4g63). The evo ecu doesn't cut fuel on decel as fast as the 2g ecu, so I often get the pops other noises. Every time I hear it, I just think of how much gas I'm wasting.

You were asking about exhaust systems that sound good. I heard the Thermal R&D on my cousin's GSX and ordered mine the next day. I'm not sure if they make one or not for the N/A but you could always check. Real good sounding system IMO

Ya know I can appriciate what your trying to do here dude, with making your car sound bad ass, but honestly dude theres alot more to think about with an exhaust system than how it sounds. Like how it flows, are you willing to take a hit in low rpm torque? Are the cops in your area tough on noise violations? what emission laws do you have to contend with? etc. Honestly dude your not going to make any dsm sound like a srt-4, but you can make them sound "bad ass". If your not sure which way to go, go have a talk with your local exhaust shop they can point you in the right direction. I see your in NJ, you should have a monroe muffler shop somewhere around there. they do decent work at a decent price. well either way, im done now thats just my two cents.

If you want a good sounding exhaust, go with a tsudo n1. Tons of people including myself have on and really like the sound. I don't know what the 2.5" would sound like on a non-boosted car because I have the 3" and my rs is boosted but for the price I don't think it could be beat.

FYI, stock srt-4's also don't have mufflers.

Or if you really want, buy my turbo kit and exhaust then you'll have more power and a good sounding exhaust
