I need a little help with installing my exhaust manifold. First off... what are the chances of the heads of the bolts breaking off leaving the bolts stuck in the block? Second what's with the ring? Did they use the ring to connect the manifold in the 2g cars. I know how to get it out but what do I do with is when I remove it? I have no idea what it looks like, I heard its probably the hardest part of the install and I just want to prepare myself before I try installing this.

Exhaust manifold is just bolton. just take your time and do it carefully and you wont snap any studs. the small studs take 12mm socket/wrench and 2 larger ones at the end take 14mm. Just take your time and make sure you loosen/tighten them straight on dont angle a socket and attempt to turn/loosen any of them or they will snap. as for a ring? I have no idea what you're talking about.

maybe the turbine housing to manifold gasket? or the exh manifold to head? ussually the top 4 bolts on the turbine housing are the hardest to break loose just use something that will give you alot of leverage and you shouldnt have any problem.

Hope that was helpfull

ETalon95,
You must use lots and lots of PB Blaster.
It is a penetrating lubricant that will dissolve the rust on the Turbine housing screws.
Spray that crap on heavily and use some on the O2 Housing screws too.
Don't forget to do the DP screws and all of the nuts on the head that hold the Ex Man to the head.
Take your time and be patient.
The last thing you want to do is snap off a stud in the head.
My suggestion would be to try and loosen the 4 turbo screws 1st.
If they bind up after a little effort, stop and spray more PB Blaster down in there.
Allow it to sit over night and then try again the next day.
Trust me, if you haven't this before, the last thing you'd want to deal with is broken studs.

Oh, the sealing ring goes between the Ex Man and the Turbine Housing.
Most of us buy a 7cm^2 gasket and port the turbine housing and ex man to fit the new gasket and eliminate the sealing ring.
Another thing too.
You might want to buy 4 new turbo screws and pull the stud out of the turbine housing.
You will also need to buy 8 new turbo screw washers.
Try SBR, they have pretty good deals on parts you may need if you break something.

Strm Trpr has got most of it covered. To be safe, you can spray PB blaster on the bolts days in advance (you can still drive around). It's always a good idea to get 4 new turbo bolts to replace the old 3 and one stud in the turbo.

It's best to warm the car up, then try to break the bolts loose while they're still hot.
