Im not going with Ne thing else than Greddy, HKS or APexi N1, so if ou don't have feedback on these then keep all "Custom Exhaust" comments to yourself, But i wanted to know which of these three makes the best exhaust for a 2g GST, I have heard alot of good things about the Apexi N1, and nothing about Greddy Or HKS, I want a deep sounding exhaust with good performance and the Apexi has a large diameter piping so I would figure that to be the best performance, but it sounds stupid but does ne one or can ne one make a sound clip of there exhaust, Ne one of these three, and PM me with it, or just tell me which is the best. I don't want an exhaust that is to ricey or raspy so if ne one of these three are on that list then tell me so i can NOT get it, but the greddy and HKS are the most expensive so i kind of figured those to be the best but the Apei N1 is the cheapest. SO can someone Help me OUT, Thanx.

Of the three, HKS has the best sound(assuming you're talking about the hiper), but is obscenely expensive with no performance advantage. It's actually the smallest of the 3.

Greddy sounds good, but is awfully quiet, and also overpriced.

N1 is always a classic choice, but the only one that isn't stainless.

U mean the actual piping isnt stainless?? or the tip?? I actually really dont care about stainless as far as show, im nothing about show, its all racing and perforance, but i have heard alot of good things about the Apexi and i can get it for 430 $ opposed to the Greddy EVO $595 and the hks IS right around the same 600. But nahh I dont want NE thing quiet so if greddy is quiet then nevermind. But thanx for the info, keep it coming if u have or find ne more.

May I ask why you are set on those three brands? The Apexi is the only one really worth it, but there are many other not as well known brands out there. Usually when I hear one of those 3 name brands, it's some guy in a civic talking about his future plans cuz they're the only name brands he knows besides APC. Do a search, ask around a bit, you'll find a lot of great exhausts, built for performance like you say you want.

LOL on the APC. you will never find an apc product on my car ever. makes me :barf: , anyway, i know you said you didnt wanna hear this but im going to say it anyways. thermal muffler with exhaust shop piping, or brands like vsr, rnr, etc. i personally went with rnr. i should of done it my self with a muffler and used the extra money on a new turbo :|

I'm talking the piping, not the tip. Aluminized steel will rust MUCH faster than stainless will.

Honestly, my recommendation would be the Tsudo N1-clone on ebay. 300 or so shipped, same thing as apexi, except it's stainless steel.

An exhaust is just bent pipe. You don't have to spend an asston to get something good.

id go with Thermal R&D from the turbo back! to me that exhaust would be your best bet. ive had Greddy before and it not worth the time...

...or the money. Thermal's exhaust is also decently priced depending on where you buy it from. im right down the road from Hahn Racecraft and so i just ordered it through them.

hope this helps

Stainless steel will never rust. :thumb:

I don't think there is any other way to go than stainless unless you live somewhere where there is no moisture or like buying exhausts every few years...

what about Megan Racing xhaust, 3" piping and all stainless, but see I dont really care about stainless because the car is not a daily driver and i dont drive it in the rain unless im caught in the rain, if its raining before i take it out then the car its not leaving the driveway so it wont get wet that often.

Just because something costs more than something else doesnt mean its better. With the name brands you mentioned you are paying for just that, the brand. Its just like clothing, you can pay 60 bucks for that sweatshirt that says "hollister" on it, or you can pay 15 for the blank one made by cheetah from mervyns. All made in the same sweatshop, do the same damn thing, and work equally well :D

IMHO, with all the things you want out of an exhaust, and the price ranges you are looking at, your choice is simple. Thermal R&D, ,full 3 inches, stainless steel (means it wont rust and make you buy another one in a couple years--nothing to do with show vs go). It has a very deep tone, and gets loud and angry when you open it up. I went with the Hahn Racecraft 3inch o2 eliminator, Carsound Cat, and thermal cat back, and get compliments on it 3 years after I have installed it. At lower RPMs, its got a deep purr, but not loud enough to attract attention from the law-but it sure as hell does at WOT.

thats funny every1 says awww ur just paying for the name,... well not really i havent found a thermal exhaust 2 day for ne thing less than 600 bucks, and Apexi N1 i can get right now free shipping for 429 $ or i can get the megan racing for 350 thats a lot cheaper than a thermal, thats 4 dam sure.

sorry for all the responses and posts or what not, its finally come down to this, HKS, THERMAL R&D or APexi, i have a friend that does powder coating so I can powder coat the piping so it wont rust or i can have it ceramic coated for next to nothing, so what are ppl's choices, oo and also consider that this car, doesnt ever see rain, its only a weekend car and only when theres no rain in the forecast, she comes out, so i dont thing rust is going to be a big problem, but ne way....HIT ME WITH SOME ANSWERS.

id go with a thermal R&D, i have 1 sounds awsome, it's stainless as well, full 3" no cat, 4" n1 style tip, picked mine up from horsepowerfreaks.com awsome guys awsome service if you call and talk to them they might drop the price a bit for u as they did for me :thumb: :dsm:

so its done my mind is made up, Im going with the thermal 3" turbo back, its a bit pricey but wtf,...I talked to my mechanic 2 day and thats what he recommends, he used to use thermal with his race car and he held the title for the worlds fastest front wheel drive, so i figured he might know a lil something.

i have an n1 granted i am NT.... when i first had the exhaust, it was way ricey, way too much for my taste, but im a die hard apex'i fan so i asked around... if you keep or put the resonator back in it tones it down alot, i love the way it sounds now. as for piping, i agree, metal pipe is metal pipe, just have a muffler shop pipe 3" stainless exhaust for you... plus if you find a good one, you can choose how you want it piped, and they even let me stand there and pick the angle of the muffler.... :dsm:

does anyone have sound clips of some examples mentioned (evo2, n1, thermal r&d, and others).

1. one of it at idle

2. cruising at 3000

3. driveby (at 3000, but doesnt really matter cuz we'll get the idea)

here is what rucr8z2 said in a post this past week:

don't get me wrong the N1 systems are cool and extremely LOUD! The best system for the money is the greddy SP-2 or the EVO2 the both can be gotten for under $550. They sound boss! They sound like euro sports cars instead of a tincan on the end of a pipe!

so this is why im confused. some say the evo2 is quiet, and others say its loud and throaty. well.......which is it!!! (that's why i ask for some clips :) )

i'd go with the HKS. The sound on those are awesome, built quality is just as good if not better than most of the top brand ones. HKS also been developing products for turbo cars for years, so i trust their experience.
