can anyone give me their opinions and experiences with the evo3 motor compared to a regualr 6 bolt i am buying one or the other just want some help on which to get

I believe the actull evo 3 motor won't bolt up do to motor mount diffrence's. Try searching for it, i know this topic has been discussed to death.

you guys are right the smast wiseass at the jdm store told me it would bolt up and today when i spoke with the owner the kid almost lost his job...can anyone give the HP rating on the gvr4-jdm engine.....i heard its 220 can anyone help me out cuz it looks like i am stuck with the 6 bolt i really wanted that evo but i am stuck with the 6 bolt

I don't think it would be more then 220 if it even is that. Considering all the GVR4's were imported, I can't see there being too much diffrence between the jdm ones and then ones here, minus emissions and the LHD.

One of the members here on tuners brought up a good point in regard to jdm motors. People that have those cars over there know there gonna have to junk the motor in a few years after purchase, so they proably beat the crap out of them before they have to junk them. Im not saying every japanese person did that to their motor, but just a thought.

Again, it has nothing to do with being a 6 bolt or 7 bolt, it has to do with motor mounting point differences.

6 bolts are great but i just got my hopes up on the "evo" idea........hey if anyone has a 2g gsx to trade for my 1g let me know ....i just want a shell

my car is a 93 gsx perfect running condition 61k miles i am the second owner....it has a ported head, 3inch turbo back exhaust into an n1, exedy racing clutch, all new belts and tune up its white with a black interior and has a POWER sunroof, has a hacked air can with a new filter all free mods done, balance shaft removed...never been to the track..looking to trade for a 97-99 gsx shell....

So you're going for the Evo motor in a 2G idea? I know its your car and your money, but really cmon. All your really doing is putting another 7 bolt in a 2G all for 8.8:1 compression pistons and a 16G turbo? All that time and money would be better spent on a 50 trim and supporting mods, hell you might be able to squeeze a little dyno tunning time in that too. I have to agree with Lando on this, 'Evo' engines and JDM in general is played.

Why the big hype on getting an EVO motor, its still a used block, and a 4G63T block at that. You have one sitting in your car, if you head and block are good then why need a new engine? If you are concerned about miles on the current engine, have it torn down, completly rebuilt, with built internals and call it a day. Then save up for the big boy toys and go with a nice setup. The EVO engine is still a stock block that could possibly have more miles on them then they say. Ive lived in Japan for 2 years and have seen first hand how shady some of the businesses there can be. Rebuild your block with forged material you will be better off in the end.

No, it will not fit. It has nothing to do with being a 6 bolt or 7 bolt. THe block doesnt have the right motor mount provisions. Read what I posted in the other thread, if you have a 1G, an Evo motor will not bolt up. Seriously, what is so great about have this engine in your car?

i dont think you understood me.......i meant my 1g the 1993 eclipse GSX came with the 7 bolt block and is prone to crankwalk.......from 6-92 and up eclipses came with the 7 bolt....the only reason i was so hype about the evo in my 1g is the whole idea of the EVO in my 1g...............anyways i have decided to just get the 6 bolt engine and i am gunna do a FMIC, bov, exhaust, air intake, throw in my afc, and when the winter is done i will start the serious upgrades....

My suggestion would be if isnt broke, dont fix it. 1G 7 bolts are different from 2G 7 bolts and arent as prone to crankwalk as it is. Ask alot of the members on this board and they will tell you crankwalk is overrated. A 61k mile 1G is a rare find these days, if you are paranoid about crankwalk read up on precautions people have taken and measure the endplay with every oil change, if your under there it isn't that much more work to measure it with a caliper. If you need the link to the directions let me know I will get it to you. Other than that, enjoy the car, take care the maintenance and beat the piss out of it, in a good way.
