EVO motor in a 1G TALON???? CAN IT BE DONE??

yes actually it can be done, i have two dsms one with the evo3 engine and the other with the stock 4g63t, it is possible and i am here for proof.

you could always just buy a JDM cyclone 4g63t motor, theres a web site that sponsors DSMtuners.com that sells them, they come with the turbo and the HP is rated at 220, thats 25hp more than an american turbo motor, and I think there only like $1,200. :dsm:

or an american 6 bolt motor for like $300 .... I never understood why people pay extra for that jdm crap. Makes me think of a honda everytime.

I think the bolt pattern on an evo valve cover is a little different, and there is not lettering on it, the valve cover is also the same hieght as the cam gears on a 1g, 2G, so clearance sounds like an issue. Next time I'm over buy the Mitsu dealer maybe I'll take some measurements and look a little closer, if it would fit, I'm all over that like a cheap suit..... :dsm:

well if you want to look for youself to take some mesurments you can... but i don't need them. my bro works at a dealer. so i can get them.. ill see but i hope i can do it.. if not ill just get a powerder coated valve cover. so its not a big deal. but i dunno why i am still getting replys about how stupid of a idiea it was to do a evo motor in a talon... cuz i already said im not doin that... so if anyone knows if the bolt patteren on a evo valve cover is the same that would be great. :thumb:

evo motors are direct bolt ins for a 2g not a 1g. they dont have the spots to put motor mounts on. so no you cant put an evo motor in a 1g, unless you want to figure out how to mount it up.

only evo 1-3 look like ours. evo 4-8 are oppisite.

So an Evo motor would easliy fit an a 2g or is it still not worth it?

evo 1-3 is a direct drop in for a 2g turbo, but i still dont think its worth it.for the 2500 that your going to spend on an evo motor you can do alot of things. like buy a 6 bolt block and fully build it. buy a running 6 bolt and buy a new turbo, ic, and injectors. rebuild your trans so it can take it when you actually start making power. ect ect.

edit: i noticed that you are n/t. it is not that easy to put an evo motor in your car.

If you want to fool around with an Evo VIII motor (or IV, V, VI, or VII) get yourself a newer Mitsubishi. Like, dare I say it, a 3G. Or, an Outlander or 8 or 9G Galant. Then it will drop right in. Or, be a bad ass and wait till next year, buy one of the new 4G's, find yourself a wrecked Endeavor and/or Outlander AWD, and build yourself a new school GSX.

If you frequent this site you probably have a 1 or 2G turbo and should either A.) be thankful for what you have. B.) build an American six bolt. or C.) be a pioneer and build a 7-bolt stroker or '64.

If you have a 2G N/T you should stick to building the 420A, or buy a turbo DSM. Or be a pioneer and find out if one of those old 2.2L turbo Chrysler motors from an Omni, Spirit R/T or Daytona would fit.

And they lived happily ever after. The End.

Remember anything is possible they have an evo 8 motor in a honda civic HB with awd setup on it too... so it would be TOTALLY Possible... probable? No... possible yes
