someone please close this retarded thread. all you have to do is look at the evo engine and look at the 4g63.. it's oriented differently. timing belt on the right on dsm, left on evo. 'nuff said

and you're right.. why would you want to swap a 4g63 for a 4g63? LOL

I figured it wouldn't fit cause of it's config. I was just checking. I'm trying to way my options between rebuilding my current engine or buying an new one. Thanks...

what did you do to the motor to cause it to need rebuilding??? did it crank walk? something blown?

also, weighing your options... always think about a 6 bolt. considering the extent of damage of your 7 bolt that's probably the best alternative i could suggest. 6 bolt = no crankwalk [ or next to none ]

also, are you keeping this car for a daily driver? or is it going to be modded to crap [ 300+ whp??? ] cause if it is i'd go with 6 bolt.

I changed the oil a week ago. It was working fine then yeterday I was driving back home for the weekends and my engine choked. I heard something like loose change in my bottom end. Smoke was everywhere. I opened the valve cap and pulled the dip stick and smoke was everywhere. All I can say is thank GOD for extended warrenty. I'm looking into a racing engine. Something that can haul ass on the weekends and dependable during the week. If you got some pointers into race engines let me know. Thanks

whats a race engine in your definitions? the stock block has been proven to handle up to 450 whp. is that more than enough for you? it sure is for me

if you want REALLY fast and dependable prepare to spend money. 'tis the dsm way haha. my suggestion would be a PTE 50 trim or similar turbo and all supporting mods. you'd be good for 400 whp and should be alright in the dependable department if you dont go WOT every 5 seconds [ which is hard to do :p ]

** oh yea, if you're blowing smoke everywhere it may be possible it might just be a head gasket. make sure where the problem lies before investing in a new engine, because your block sounds salvageable

I plan to install a 60 trim T4 w/ mods. I want an engine that will handle it. I was told that the 6 bolts are the way to go for high hp. I have yet to take my car to the shop. It sounds a lot worse than simple head gasket but I'm not a mechanic.
The engine will still start and run for a second before it dies. It sounds terrible.

I personally know a stock bottom 6bolt laying down 515whp and has been for over 6 months with no problems (other than tranny).;)

If you are thinking 60trim anything go with a better prepared engine if you are even remotely skeptic about wrenching on your block. There are many other shops out there, just showing you some pretty badass engines.:thumb:
