So the entire brake kit (rotors, calipers, lines, etc..) for the evo 8 will not fit on any dsm's without modifications, correct?

i would also like to know this, I think i read that they would work you would just have to make custom brackets for the calipers, but not positive, so anybody that knows this question should chime in

No part of the Evo VIII braking system will fit on a DSM without modifications.

Wrong. Rear brake mounting is exactly the same as 2G mounts, given EVO discs, and lines.

Why you would waste time with the rear brakes is another question though.

How about even brake distribution.

Do the EVO rear discs have the drum-in-disc design?

Actually all you need to do to get the evo calipers to work in the front is get yourself a set of 99 galant knuckles and the brakes and calipers will bolt up.

^^^^^^ DING DING DING...ill post up when I do mine. Just waiting around for a good deal on the calipers.

How about the fact that the more front brake you need, the less rear you need.

Is their a comparison between the stoptechs and the EVOs brakes? I knew about the EVO conversion with the knuckle swap, but I do like those stoptechs.

How bout wtf are you talking about. The braking distribution should not be too far forward, especially on a much better system. If it clamps just in the front, remember a tire is only 100%, you cannot outbrake your tires, so if you were to make sure the rears were bigger too you could use the tires in the back too to brake. A balanced system front and rear will always outbrake just a larger front.

I already overload my shitty tires with brembo rotors, 2g awd brakes, ss lines, axxis metalmaster pads in the front. With my new tires I am definitely aware with evo 4-piston up front too much front distribution will have me locking up the brakes, when I could distribute more braking force to the rear and use those rear tires for more traction and not lock up the car. Works basically on the same principle as awd except you want fwd bias.

Now how about a 1g? Can evo breaks be swapped easily? How much do used evo brakes go for (calipers, rotors, everything you need to do the swap minus the knuckles)

whats the part number for those knuckles? How much are they?

Thank you D.

We can also put all the weight in the car on the left side because the more weight on the left, the less you need on the right.

On a 1g, you would need to fab up some caliper brackets for the front because the galant/2g knuckles are totally different from the 1g part and are not interchangeable by no means.

As far as the rear, again, you would need to fab up a totally different set of mounts and reengineer the whole rear braking system in order to retain the parking brake.

I think i am going to try this out too. I am actually looking for the parts now so hopefully i will track some down soon so i can try this out.

Ahaha sorry, I literally got 10 hours of sleep in 5 days and was getting quite cranky...I just got back from 4 days of vacation and I realize he really didnt deserve that. I will control myself. But overwhelming the front brakes even though it still consists of 90% of the braking will just overwhelm the tires.
