I installed the EVO3 16g the other day and when I put my intake back on I noticed that the J pipe was a little bit in the way of my intake which is causing it to sit about an inch off to the side. This is obstructing the intake to the turbo a bit and I'm wondering if this is the reason why I'm getting a slooooooow spool up which only peaks at about 12 psi with my MBC turned all the way up. Has anyone else had this problem?

Mine is pushing on the intake AND on the lower radiator hose. Its a complete mess down there and I have yet to figure out a way to fix it (FRONT MOUNT!!!).

You're problem is a massive boost leak. Is the wastegate opening?

No I meant does it open when you're boosting? If not then you got a massive leak. If it does then you got a wastegate problem.

This may sound like a stupid question. But did you take the little rubber piece out of the intake pipe when you installed it on your compressor housing? My friend forgot to remove it and he sucked it right in to the compressor housing and complete trashed his compressor wheel.

I think if you opened your MBC all the way you shouldn't have a problem underboosting, unless you installed it backwards. If you did install it in the right direction and it broke then you would have overboosting problems.

Yes I did take the rubber piece out when reinstalling the intake. And I hooked my MBC up right. I made a boost leak tester this morning out of some junk laying around the garage and I'm goint to leak test it later. That's the only thing I can think of.

check your BOV!, if you T'd into the MBC line, and brought the line to the lower vent nipple of your BOV you will be openning your BOV prematurely, and causeing not only your boost to come on late, but your gauge will be screwy AND your MBC won't work worth a damn! disconnect it from your BOV, and make sure the MBC line isn't bled off, and then your MBC might actually work :dsm:

I have a type RS BOV with no lower nipple and my mbc is tapped from the pressure source that I tapped between my J pipe and wastegate actuator. I did a boost leak test and the only leak I found was from my BISS screw. I used pipe thread tape and it fixed the leak. I haven't driven the car yet but I'm about to go right now and see if anything changed.

Well I went for a little ride and the car drives GREAT! I'm thinking that I must have had a serious boost leak where my J pipe meets my I/C piping because thats where I connected my boost leak tester and I only got a leak from my BISS. Now all I need is my injectors and I can turn it up a little and see what this EVO III will do. Thanks for all the help guys.

It's amazing where you find them huh? I double clamped every coupler and even used hairspray on them like someone posted somewhere.
